These were my temps at the track (actually it was little hotter on cause I took this while I was cruising on the road [off track] to cool down the car)

WOW! Maybe we need to to find a way to spray our oil coolers.

a FMIC will help prevent/reduce heatstroke, but it won't really help bring oil temps down

You'll need an upgraded oil cooler, from say ER or AR, in order to bring oil temps down

it shouldn't

This is why the engine would cut my power, so that I couldn't push it

if you have a coolant leak it can go up and you can overheat/blow the engine

This almost happened to my old 986...

Anyway..... I have to think that racing in 102 temps didn't help much. But it does leave me wondering if the additional cooling of the iS would hold up. Same as 1M, no?

I don't think the track reviews of the 1M have been in 100+ degree heat lol

my M3 never had heat issues and I've tracked it in 100+ degree heat
I mean, my times are slower sure, but the car still performs great (driver maybe not so much haha)

it actually hit 105 that day. crazy

Going back to the track Aug 13th and Aug 20th with the M :P

Does your 09 Z4 even have an oil cooler? I heard some did not. When I went to Dinan for my S2, they were surprise to find an oil cooler on mine. I heard some 09 did not have oil coolers that had DCT, only 6speed manuals. Not sure if that is true or not? I pushed mine pretty hard and the highest temp on mine was 250. I'm sure the high weather temp did not help.

It should as it has sport package. I can see a Z4 with DCT and no sport package. I remember with the e90 335, if you had sport package you had an oil cooler (except some in 2007, and since the z4 was built in 2009 I'm assuming it would have it).

I'll check in the morning nonetheless

What you mean "pretty hard"?

I'm at around 250 daily driving

No matter how hard you push on the street, it will never get as hot as it does on the track
On the track, you're pushing it non-stop, where on the street it's rare to be going non-stop (you run out of room...)

Look on your left side of your bumper where the silver trim piece is and you should see it set back there.

We do spirited driving quite bit in the mountains at least 6 hours on a given saturday with heat up to 85 degrees. normal driving my temp usually stays below 250. I know it's not the same as a track, but I'll do further testing when I have the opportunity for a track event. Looking forward to it!

If I had a track open to the public convenient to my house, I would consider buying a used, stripped M3 as a weekend track car.
Would love to track the Z4 once or twice to explore its limits but would not expect it to be a great track car. It's more of a GT.

My 2010 has an oil cooler, it's on the right side.

Agreed. It's too heavy to be considered a real sportscar in my books, even though it has lots of pwr.
