Car Goes into Park when Door is opened

Found out the hard way. I was backing up in tight quarters so I opened my door a bit to get a full view of what was behind me and it went clunked into park instantly while going about 5 mph. Certainly go my attention in a hurry.

Many modern cars do that nowadays. Like you, I also learned the hard way. Opened the door while rolling on a week old Mercedes and then a jolt. Couldn't have been good for the transmission.

My 2009 z4 did this, my BMW dealer turned it off for me for free.

Did you use the seat belt? I do not think mine does this if I am wearing the seat belt.

No Seat belt on. I'll try it with the belt on.
