You've given it your best effort, but you've missed the point again. Hopefully, you have more success arguing cases for your clients.

Who in their right mind will have electronic brake on unless you are on a steep slope. Having electronic brake on is a requirement for the remote start to work...

Not really. You're the one annoyed by the required use of the parking brake; at the end of the day BMW agrees with the standard practice that the parking brake should be set while parked. Good luck convincing BMW (and the State of Texas) otherwise.

Lol, I never said anything about being annoyed by this practice. All I said was that BMW is alone in the practice of requiring the e-brake to be on, as other manufacturers have decided it is a non issue.

Try again...maybe you're the one with reading comprehension issues. And what does the State of Texas have to do with anything? And why do I need to convince them of anything? If you're going to make a case use pertinent information.

Of course you didn't.

Oops, you're right. Well, I stand corrected on that one. Anyway, I have a manual so it's a non-issue for me.

Here's some thoughts. . Why a need for a third key? Please don't tell me they have to leave one in the car for the CAS to work. Also it states that there can't be any faults present. Wonder if its active faults illuminating a warning light? Or shadow faults? Because if it's shadow faults then that might be an issue as theses cars usually have a bunch stored for a bunch of reasons.

I think you are missing the point, other manufacturers do require the parking brake to be on, but the difference is that it turns on for you during the remote start process. So if you didn't already have it on, you can still remote start the car.

That is the annoying part with this system, it won't turn on the parking brake for you, even though the parking brake is electric.

Now I could be wrong, since I never used it, but that is what the instructions make it seem like.

Yup, one gets permanently sealed inside the new control unit.

Here's the installation instructions: Remote Engine Start Installation Instructions.pdf

About damn time... Oh wait? Only available on latest models? They should allow for 'coding for this'. Especially on the 7 Series!

But hell... I will settle for being able to drive the car with my freakin door open. Obviously not any significant speeds. Even with cameras, I only trust my eyes when I'm squeezing millimeters from median or curbside parking!

Can't you just code the E brake to set automatically?

You all expect too much with the automatic parking brake engagement when BMW can't even do something simple as programming the driver's side mirror to dip when going into reverse.

How on earth they got away with NOT offering this is the real mystery - this is a feature that is so desirable that you can get it installed aftermarket at just about anyplace with a lift and air tools. This is another one of the weird details that I lump into 'membership' for want of a better concept (as in '...has it's price') - things that would be contemptible for Honda to do, but if it is MB or BMW it is seen as some sort of engineering integrity or exotic panache. To even float the explanation that it is b/c it is illegal in Germany is ridiculous (as many have already pointed out - they make multiple changes to accommodate laws in their largest foreign market). I'm thinking that it used to be considered unsafe for some reason, and now they are in the awkward position of putting market forces above their safety judgment, so they made up some stupid BS that sounds good.

And there sure seems to be some virulent p-brake haters out there. Did your dads go all Joan Crawford on you for not putting the brake on properly when you were little?
