Removal of Roll Hoop Plastic Covers?
Has anyone removed the plastic roll hoop covers on their e89?
I tried at the weekend but just managed to get the edges apart and was fearful of snapping something by prising (with plastic tools) any harder. ** Forget that, after a bit more searching I found this: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthre...=331584&page=2 Looks like the black parts are screwed on so I'll try again focussing on the silver parts alone. The photo shows where the "pins" are, that's where you want to use your plastic trim tool. I started at the bottom and worked my way up each side, once you can get your fingers in there you really can pull, as long as you are pulling straight away they won't break. My experience was that the second one took less than the half the time of the first one because you'll know just where to pull and have confidence to just pull them off.

Thanks for that teezee, I'll give it a go. I'm taking them off to felt them internally. There's a newly acquired ticking noise from the passenger hoop over twisty roads, so I'm hoping to put adhesive felt strips around them to quieten them down. Just after I rid the noise from the trunk, I now have another noise to track down.

that is a great illustration of how they are assembled. They are just pressure locks and not screws or anthing. Nice. I would assume that you can put a screw drive right next to the tab and simply twist to dislodge them from the black hoop.

I still can't get the hoop covers off fully.. They pop off on the non wind deflector/outer edge but they won't budge on the deflector mount side. Are the wind deflector pieces screwed through the hoop covers? There are two tiny pop out plastic covers which I can't remove on the wind deflector mounts..
