So far all indications are that they are. The dealership told us today that they are sending some engineer to come try and fix the car. We contacted BMW NA in order to begin the process of getting a new car. Should be 4-5 days before we have an official answer.

Even though this process has been a monumental F*ck up, I do have to say that the dealer has been very cooperative in trying to give us everything within their power to make us happy.

I am trying to look at this as an opportunity to get a different color.

What color combo (exterior/interior) do you have on your car? What other combo are you thinking about possibly?

I had a Black exterior with a red interior. I love black but my last car was also black. The color shows a lot of dirt.

For the new one I am very much considering white exterior with red or walnut int.

What do you guys think?

I imagine that white with walnut interior is a good color combo. Personally, I am not into red interiors, but not bad for the exterior color.

Maybe the ivory nappa white would be nice for the inside for a white Zee...

Good hunting in finding the car you want. BMW should work extra hard to make it up to you!

BTW: I really like Alpine White + Walnut. I think that will be a very attractive and durable combination over time.

Week three for me with no working computer. Also they had to replace the fuel pump that they just replaced 2 months ago at 10K miles.

I am beginning to seriously doubt the long (and short) term reliability of this car...... so glad I leased this one.

When I just brought my car in for the rear fuel pump, they overnighted the part and fixed it right away.
Same here +1 on my sixth BMW now (still have my first a E28). There are many dealers in North America, some may be not up to 100 % however, all that I have dealt with always gave me 100 % plus service and we also pay for it believe me. I've always been offered a loaner car, I never did need one. I've always been driven home and picked up once the work or service was done.

Rolf Dieter,

If you have had 5 BMW's and never had a service issue or had to welave your card for multiple days while they screwed with it than you are likely 1 in a 100 !!

I have had issues with all 3 of mine and had to leave them at least 3 or 4 times in the first year for more than 3 days. Last episode was 8 days. In fact my 335i cab went through SIXTEEN sw updates in the first year alone !! All for stuff that did not work when the car was delivered.

Well, I had 4 and have never had a single service issue. Even have never needed a loaner until this last time when I asked them and warned them that this issue could take some time...

Interesting. Is it a 30i or 35i?

Location and when will you receive it?

Both cars are 30i. We just received the legal paper work in PDF format and the car is being shipped from Vista BMW (pompano Florida) to South BMW (miami Fl).

The car swap should take place tomorrow.

Many of the people at south BMW have gone above and beyond to take care of me as a customer. Even BMW NA has shown great interest in making sure we were happy.

All warm fuzzy feelings aside I am happy with the solution. I like the color combo and I get the sports package which I didn't have on the previous car. I also think the greatest benefit is the fact the car is a year newer. The miles and depreciation I put in the car are wiped clean which in the end will improve resale value. In the end I believe I was treated fairly I just wish the process hadn't been such a pain in the ass.

I glad it worked out to your advantage, minimizing the loss.

Best wishes on the new Z and post pics!
