LED Angel Eyes H8 Bulb
I know this has been discussed at length in the past but wanted to get some reviews on LED light replacements. The top dollar ones are MTEC and LUX. But there are a myriad of other choices online, including on Ebay. Whats a good option if I don't want to go for the MTEC or LUX bulbs?

I replaced failed cheapie set with the 80W Cree offering from Extreme Power House. Very happy. http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1014093

Cree set was great for me. I picked mine up on eBay for around 100 and am totally satisfied. They are not a bright as the OEM LED Angel eyes but I like that much better as they aren't used for seeing in the dark anyway. the ring is very pronounced and not blurred like the OEM version. Just my preference but others feel different.

Plus I was not convinced there would be no heat issues inside the headlight housing since the heat sinks of these aftermarket LED get pretty hot. I didn't want to hang them outside the housing and compromise the watertight seal either. |

I just bought my 2012 28i and would like to change out the Angel Eye halos but I am not a automotive handyman. Is this something that a not to handy guy can do onhis own or should i seek a mechanics help?

Are you referring to changing out the bulb or the halo assembly? Bulbs are easy - yes you can do it.

OK - So showing my ineptness, if I want to go from the yellowish appearance that I now have to the LED look that I had on my '12 3 series, which do I want to do?

If you want something cheap but good I would do the CREE solution.
IMO this is the best bang for your buck since you can back out later if you don't like it for whatever reason or if its a lease. Also you can install it yourself unless you are incredibly inept. If you want something thats 95% pure awesome look into OSS designs (~$600) but they replace the fiber option eyes with LED tubes and give a very close to OEM LCI look. If you want to be PERFECT then you will fork out some bills for the LCI headlights (from what I've seen its anywhere from $3k to $10k to do depending on country and dealer/shop).

OK so if I just change out the bulbs (assume that would be 4) to say a cree LED, the halos will look more like a currernt OEM and I won't get an error message on the dash?
