Speaking About Oiol......

Ok, so I am little lax ....

I have had my Z4 for about 8 months now and today is the first time I actually used the system to check the oil level. When I selected the option I got a "Measuring oil level...." message on the screen and after 30 minutes it was still 'measuring'. Is this the way it is supposed to work.... After a second try and anothe 5 minutyes It finally registered to the full mark.

And yes, the engine was running when I checked it !!!!! Manual states 3 minutes if still; 5 minutes if moving and up to 30 minutes if just added oil...(I did not add any oil)

Anybody else have this phenomenon ?????? Is it normnal ???? Seems excessive to have to wait that long.....

Should show the correct oil level straight away or within few seconds at the most.

Hope not but there's always that possibility.

Could be first initializing the new software. Not sure if it's totally analogous to regular computers, but whenever you do a fresh operating system install it has to call up various routines into operating memory which always takes a while the first time. The next time around it's always faster.

3rd thing could be the new software had to calibrate the sensors.

Just a few thoughts. Looks like we're out of sync by about 12 hrs so I hope that re-test works out for you.

teagueAMX,

Yup.... tried several times today while in park and in motion either case took about 15 to 30 seconds. I can live with that. May be something in the new software as you thought but also may be a sensor that is a bit borderline...... Only time will tell... All else ok for now so I will just ENJOY it !!!! You too.....
