"New" to me 2012 Z4 35i

I picked up a CPO 2012 Z4 35i last week. It only had 4,000 miles on it! It has the M-Sport package and is a 6MT (long live the manual transmission!).

I am super excited about it, and so far love the car! This will be my daily driver for my roughly 100 mile/day commute to and from work.

(sorry for the crappy cell phone pic as this was on my way home from picking it up)

Thanks!

The 1M and Z4 are very very different, but compliment each other quite well. The 1M has better brakes, steering, suspension, and power (although a cheap tune on the Z4 will fix the power). When I drive the 1M, it screams to be driven hard. Everything is so tight and precise. When driving it, I try to push every corner, every on-ramp, etc. It can be almost a bit frustrating when sitting in traffic because of that. When driving it, I am always thinking, "I can't wait to get back to the track again!".

With the Z4, I am quite content to drive along with the speed of traffic, top down, wind blowing, listening to the Sat radio. I can punch it into an on-ramp for more thrills, but I don't get frustrated if I can't because of a slow driver in front of me. It's much more "comfortable" to drive and more relaxing. Of course it looks WAY better!

They are different tools for different purposes - both extremely good and extremely fun, but in different ways. I hope that makes sense.

It does thanks.

I was curious because I was looking for the 1M but they were sold out when I was in the market.

Guess there is always the M235 or M2

I also had a 2011 1M before the Z4.
I agree with your comments about the 135. But now I enjoy the Z just like you.

Congratz!

What are the differences in perceived exhaust sound (volume and quality)? The 1M has a quad exhaust with less restrictive cats etc, but of course only the windows come down. What does it sum up to compared to the Z4 with the entire roof down?

Thanks!

God has blessed me financially so that I didn't have to get rid of the 1M to get the Z4. I have the best of both worlds!

I have an aftermarket exhaust on my 1M so I am not sure the comparison will mean much (Berk resonated mid pipes with a Magnaflow catback). The 1M exhaust is much louder and more raw.

Thanks! So far, I have done the easy things - stubby antenna (had one from my wife's old MINI), aluminum pedals, and hardwired my 9500xi with a mirrortap. I may add a simple tune, like a jb+. I think that's it.
