Is something missing
Hi! I took this picture with the roof ready for open and the boot lid in the up position. This module lies behind the bulkhead in the boot area, either the drivers side (US etc) or passenger side for those of us who drive on the correct side of the road Lol!!
I would like to know what module this is and why is there a spare port? As we know BMW leave spare nothing so am I missing something??? I know it is a fibre optic link from the connector, so can any help me understand what it is I am looking at??? Many thanks! |

Hi ! Many thanks for the link but I have already have this document, it is an excellent overview of the car......seldom do we get access to such documents which I think is sad as those of us who enjoy understanding our cars have a lot of interest in how they operate and to be honest it is not as though it has trade secrets within.......
The closest to my understanding could be the hi-fi amp but I am not sure without removing the panel, but as this module has two ports and one is free I am wondering if I am missing something or just as important could I add something to take up the use of the second port!!!! |

Do you have the DAB option? Might be an extra audio connection for the DAB unit? Just guessing. Maybe someone on Z4-forum.com has seen it before, might want to ask there

Hi ! I will try there! I think it may be to do with the aux/usb comms module, I am really at a loss! I do not have Dab radio. It would be nice to know about as I have said the spare port, as I may be able to add something else by limiting the cost. The module is very easy to see and I was hoping that someone could look at there's and see if both ports are used then we could work out what they have and I don't>>>>

Will have a look at mine this weekend, my car has the DAB and TV option. I take it when you have the boot lid up, you can see the unit in your pic?

Had a look at mine today, with boot lid up and roof in the ready to open position, but didn't see it, must be under a cover? Or my headache this morning must have messed up my sight haha.
