BMW Car Club of America
Any thoughts on whether BMWCCA membership is worth it? My Z4 is my second BMW. It would have been nice to have been a member for the car discount but what else?

10% off at the parts counter. and the Roundel magazine is good.
http://roundel.imirus.com/Mpowered/book/vrdns10/i12/p1 $40 to be an official card carrying member or this cult is a good deal.

Yes I enjoy the Roundel. We also have a couple of E46's which are always need some preventative care to keep them running so the 10% off parts is nice. Also you'll get the local club news for Autocrossing and other events. Its worth it IMO.

I did see that! I would like the M driving school along with the ladies spa package they are also advertising right now. I'm female and it doesn't look like the ladies get the same level of driving school!

I have used the $1000 rebate towards a new BMW as well as enjoying the magazine.

BMW CCA and the Roundel. Worth it.
Well it's an easy question for me. Yes!
Great / Good monthly magazine. Membership in local chapter, to hook up with other BMW people. Activities around my area. Drivers Schools, Rally's, Auto-X, Fall color Tours, Picnic, Concourse, Tech training sessions, Simple social events. Annual Dinner with Speaker etc. Discounts on parts at local dealer, and info on parts and other services listed in back of magazine have saved me $100's. You choose what you want to do. If you like BMW's and meeting people it's a great place to find fellow BMW lovers. Just do it. Then there is the BMW CCA loyalty rebate on new or certified cars. I have saved 3k over the years on purchases. 99 M3 $1000, 02 330i $500, 07 335i $500, 10 135i $500, 11 Z4 $500. Is it worth it. Yes. |

The Sandlapper club does autocrosses here and there, some at the Performance Center. They always do a driving school at CMP (Kershaw, SC). Z's are allowed, I think, but I've not made it out with it. I know lots of folks in the upstate (Rock Hill) group but few from the Greenville chapter, although I assume Mike Renner (BMW PC instructor) is a big member there.

I've been a BMW CCA member since 1985, back when it was BMWCCA before the "space wars".
Obviously I have a personal prejudice about whether membership is worth it. To me, it's a club - an actual club with officers, meetings, events, etc. To many people I suppose it's a Roundel subscription. One of my fondest memories is of my 8-month pregnant wife driving her 535i in a "car control school" at the Houston Police Academy track and smoking everyone including the guy in the Nomex suit in his Porsche (and me, I'm afraid). BMW used to be a relatively tiny niche brand in the US, to the point that I only recently stopped routinely flashing my lights at other BMW drivers. I used to go days or even weeks without seeing another BMW. Now I just flash other Z4's. It used to be hard to find parts or decent service, and we used to be able to order cars without options (such as leather) if we wanted to. The club was a way to connect, get information, find parts, learn competitive driving, and so on. It's worth it.
