Is that a super shiny clear film used to wrap the whole car? Premier Mobile Group in Fremont wrapped my whole hood and bumper. They can also wrap the whole car. Your film looks extremely shiny or is it a special wax on the film.
I almost ordered those same Bremmer Kraft BR03 in non-chrome. They look good, but I think I'm appreciating my 296 more since I get a lot of compliments not to change them.

Question about durability over time
Gentlemen,
I considered this when we got our Z but decided against it mostly because of some paint protector "stickers" that were on a 99 Jetta that I bought for my son. These small clear rectangular pieces (placed under the handles on the doors) really made the car look bad. I am sure they are an older and lower quality product than the films that are professionally put on but after a few years - they looked really really bad. Any little nick was brown and the edge of the film (the adhesive) turned brown and just looked shoddy. I spent over four hours picking and scraping with an expired gift card (thinner and softer than a credit card - I found out) removing the four 2"x3" pieces. It was a royal pain in the a$$. I now have new proof that I really do love my youngest son as he will never know the pain it was to remove. Bottom line - it looks much much better without these "protector" pieces that were all discolored and marred sitting behind the door handles. Will this same thing happen with the new protector films?? Will the paint UNDER the film discolor (or not) compared to the painted areas that are not covered? Thus requiring a new paint job anyway 3-5 years down the line when you remove the film.. Finally, does the film affect/hurt the paint by not allowing it exposure to the atmosphere. I know that we took delivery of our Z only 3 days after being released from the Regensburg plant (less than two weeks after painting) and I had to refrain from waxing the car for the first 6 months, in order to let the paint "off gas" and continue to "harden." (As I was told.) In the end we decided not to go with protector film as I really could not get any straight answers to the above questions. Any experience from folks with these protector films "over the long haul?" - As in over 5 years.. Thanks!! |

I think what was confusing me was the entire car was extremely shinny, giving the impression the entire car was covered. The other thing is even though I looked over those photos very closely there is no sign of a line anywhere. |

I have the paint protector on my current Z4 and love the peace of mind. I received my first stone chip on the car in under 100 miles. I then had it repaired and opted for the 3M.
I believe it is much better than what your son had on his car. I had it on my Monaco Blue Z4 and after 3 1/2 years, it still looked good with no issues that you spoke of.

And as it looks (on my car) the clearcoat is very easy to scratch. Got a lot of very fine scratches after washing and drying very very carefully. I'm almost scared to wash the car. NVRS8TFDs car look awsome! Looks like the film is a bit tinted? |

Loads of stone chips on mine 3 months old 3k miles, wife doing a fair bit of motorway driving, but never had that problem with SLK.
Is the paint a wee bit too hard and brittle?? |

My parents had plastic slip covers on our couch when I was growing up. This protection film just makes me laugh

But, I think we're talking about something a little different here, which is an imperceptible covering. The sweaty crap on a our parent's couches was just crap. |
