Will shorter antenna for z4 affects the NAV

Hi All,

I am planning to change to a shorter antenna for the z4 like this one in Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Hand-Laid-CARB...z4+35i+antenna

This would only affect the Radio reception, not the Navigation, right?

That is correct, that antenna is only used for FM, as antenna 2 in a three antenna system.

I have the Peugeot/Cirtroen stubby and have not noticed any effect on my FM reception, and I have not heard anybody else having any problems.

You are right, the bump on the trunk is for satellite radio in the US. I believe the NAV antenna in the box on the windshield that also holds the rain sensor.

That is not correct, the stubby is antenna 2 in the FM diversity system. See the document in this post:

That's unusual to hear, in the UK it only affects the AM signal, I can take it off, and my FM works fine...

Because it is only one of three antennae, read the document.

Depends on the signal strength for FM I think. From my experience I can get national radio stations like BBC ok, but I'm on the edge of picking up Absolute radio and the drop of say, 10%, lowered signal pickup on my stubby is noticeable. Moreso when top is down too - I think at least one of the other antenna is in the boot [translation: trunk] and is well covered with top down.

The aforementioned document indicates an antenna in the roof, which you have just put in the trunk. I think that is probably the culprit.
