dct transmission
just cant get over how good this transmission is. I have had standard transmissions all my life and I always found that I got out of the cars after being stuck in traffic for awhile. Here I can shift with the lever when I want, with the paddles, or "S" mode, or just relax in traffic and leave it in drive. I think its one of the best things to come out in a long, long time. Its like having three different cars, and I havent even discussed the hardtop, convertible yet.

I love mine too....I've had tons of manual s and lots of autos and a few semi auto's and this is by far the best I've ever driven. I had a steptronic in my Audi, one in each of my Volvo's and they all were just auto's with a remote switch, the DCT actually feels like a manual tranny. It's a beautiful thing....

The DCT is IMHO much better than the F1 trannies I've driven (Ferrari, Maserati). While those are pure computer-controlled clutches, they can be pretty harsh when just driving around town and especially parking. The DCT has this way of keeping the power on during upshifts that a manual (computer controlled or foot) simply can't match and driving around town is effortless to boot!
The one thing I don't like is the hill-brake assist. I use my left foot for the brake and don't need the car to hold anything for me. It creates a hesitation that's disconcerting. |

I use my right foot because there's no speed in the city or highway that requires both feet, plus the left foot is too abrupt whereas the right foot has the correct sensitivity, if I was driving an F1 car then I would use both feet

funny, i think it's the only part I'm not so happy with. The time lag between when you press the pedal and the power delivery (especially after braking or switching from rear) is unacceptable. I do miss the manual.

Used to be unhappy with it as well but I figured out a technique. What I do is let the creep function roll the car from a stop for a bit before applying the accelerator. Works well for me. T |
