Windscreen Cracked
Last week just before the long holiday, while travelling at 100kmh, the wind screen was hit by a stone chip...... and I was not following any car closely
The wind screen was hit about an inch near the A frame on the left. A crack of about 2 inches was found instantly. The crack extended in a curved form of about 6 inches when got home Luckily the dealer got a spare and they were very helpful and changed the screen a few days ago The total cost was like US$1800..... I paid $400 and the rest by the insurance. Mind you, the rain sensor came together with the new glass. |

Holly Molly, what a big crack you got here. My car was hit by stones all the time while travelling at 80 to 100 km in Highways but all are small dots on screen but your crack was a big one.

May be the car sits low and is more likely to be hit by stonechips......
Have to go back to the dealer although it won't be cheap! I don't think any windscreen shop got any OEM stock as the model is too new........ |

the windshields are pretty tough, but if a hard enough hit in the edges hits it then it's byebye windshield. i once saw a lug nut size rock come off a semi and when it hit my windshield it only left the tiniest scratch, so tiny you can't even see it from inside, you have to stare at the windshield like 6" away from it.
