Pirelli Tires the problem, once again.

Pirelli insist on building tires that limit the strategy of racing not through a diminution of performance in the tires as they age (laps) but the absolute lack of safety because they refuse to build a tire that won't disintegrate of pushed in terms of laps.

Any other thoughts?

From the Pirelli site:

Possible race strategies and maximum laps:
Pirelli recommends that the following numbers of laps are not exceeded on each compound:
Hard* = 26 laps
Medium = 28 laps
Soft = 15 laps
*The hard compound experienced some graining, which is why the useful life of this tyre is predicted to be less than that of the medium.

Good race. Rosberg will surely receive a hefty penalty for a flagrant violation of the rules re: radio orders/coaching, which means 2nd for Max.

Any update on Rosbergs penalty?
It makes more sense if his team gets points reduction, not him.
He asked them what to do and they told him, instead of saying we are not allowed to say anything.

He should have been disqualified. If they hadn't said what to do he would not be able to finish the race. So now they set a precedent so all teams will ask themselves if a 10s penalty is better than the issue the driver is experiencing.

This ^^^

I heard someone saying something about being able to communicate "critical errors" or some other nonsense. If I recall, Perez had brake failure in Austria exactly because his team couldn't tell him his brakes were on the verge of failure.

Absolute micky mouse nonsense. Should have been a DQ and then everyone would have known the FIA were serious. Add in the qualifying BS with only certain laps being disallowed and this is taking on the air of a circus.

Me thinks HAM should be asking the team for a bit a clarity as to why they were so quick to assist ROS while telling him he was on his own two races ago.

Not being able to warn a driver about imminent brake failure is staggeringly stupid. How are they going to justify that if a driver is seriously injured or killed in a crash due to brake failure that the team knew was coming?

The gearbox problem with Nico is one thing. Failing brakes are another.

They penalized nico 10 seconds AGAIN putting him in 3rd. Kind of a strange rule, they told nico his gear was out.

They did more than that.
Telling of the failure was not the issue.
The issue was the subsequent msg that told him how to deal with it.
...quick shift through 7th gear.

They told him how to fix the situation via a change in settings, then how to shift around said issue. The only thing "critical" about the ROS situation was a possible DNF. No obvious safety issue. Listening to the radio traffic it sounded like they (the team) were bursting at the seams to give input.

Drivers in general are a bunch of pansies. After Baku ROS says the rules are fine as is, and this time he's pleading with the team to save his ass. Has he even commented on what happened?
