Coding with Carly

Does anyone know if you can enable Top up and down with the Carly Pro -Generation II OBD? I don't have comfort access and would like to control opening my top from the remote

If so what is the code for doing this?

In short the answer is NO!!!
You can open with holding the open button on the fob, but no close options.

Other than that NO, and as the OP states that he doesn't have Comfort Access then I was telling him the answer, NO!!
Doesn't matter what Carly states, it's not possible if the kit isn't fitted to the actual car.
According to Carly I have folding mirrors, which is amazing because mine don't have folding motors in them or a switch on the door panel!

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.

SmartTop doesn't require comfort access from what I remember. That could be an option for the OP.

many thanks for the input. I can also fold my mirrors and really only want to be able to open and close my top using the remote. its a shame Carly can't do this. i was heavy set to buy the OBII and the Carly Pro software but now that i know remote top control is not possible, i won't .

I agree with Kessler, the best solution for my situation seems to be the Smart Top

Does anyone have a go-to, top 10 must-dos coding preference?

Disable seat-belt chimes, corner LED delete, 5 flash turn signal, disable headlight washer, hold lock button on FOB to fold mirrors and close windows, disable side lamps, continue windshield operation after car is turned off, disable iDrive acknowledgement prompt.

These are the ones off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more that I've personally coded. And then you have the diagnostic and monitoring features.

What's so bad about the corner LED delete?

Carly question: Do you need both components? The white small one and the “adapter”? Is the Bluetooth adapter it’s own Bluetooth device? Meaning, does my Z4 need to have Blue tooth capability, or will the connection just be strictly between the Carly unit and my iPad? Thanks.

The Carly unit talks only to your phone. I have a 2011 Z4 and I just plug in the Carly and it connects to my phone.

Do you have the white unit and the Bluetooth adapter?

You can use the app with K+DCAN adapter if you have one, or you can purchase their Gen1 or Gen2 Bluetooth adapter (there are a few functions that only work with their Gen 2 adapter, such as disabling iDrive acknowledgement or enabling DVD in motion). If you decide to purchase their Bluetooth adapter, you just plug it into the OBD port and then pair it with your phone (use passcode 0000 when prompted, according to the guide). Adapter has a on/off button, so you can keep it plugged in but turned off without worrying about your car's battery. The adapter is Bluetooth enabled, so it is irrelevant whether or not your car has Bluetooth.

It is that simple.

Very clear. Thanks. But do I need the white unit also? I'm assuming I do.

No idea what you're referring to. I listed the only component that you need.
