What they save on health care we make up for in lifespan from receiving actual care instead of a 6 month wait for the diagnosis of a possible carcinoma that just turned from benign to malignant during that period, aka ObamaCare.
Sorry, I had to. |

83K is steep. That for a 35iS or whatever they're calling it now I assume. A 35i with every option back when I bought was around 75K+ taxes etc. So on the road you're looking at around 91K.

I have no idea how good/bad your healthcare is down there, but ours is getting short-changed every now and then and not the coverage it used to be. I wonder if one calculates which citizen would actually be getting more savings, given a regular healthy adult. I still think that the US citizen comes out on top since we get reemed on virtually every consumable good and supposedly you guys get it re healthcare, but how many ppl actually have to undergo and spend $200K+ for cancer treatment, surgery, etc?
USA!!! USA!!! USA!!! I'm moving now, convinced! |

The wait time for any procedure/visit is ridiculously long due to what pretty much is a salary cap, resulting in physicians not working half of the year.
If you wanted to schedule for a check-up say because you had an abnormal lobe, by the time you actually get to see a physician it could have become malignant. Anyway, enough of political issues... Agreed on the tax in other countries being absurd. America is definitely the place to live if you get bored of your cars every few years... |

Sure, it could've been worse for me, coming from HK, it would've cost US$113K as well. Still, sucks because CAD and USD are virtually parity, that's the annoying thing to see such a HUGE GAP between the 2 countries. |

Re Canada, no idea, just that there is no way there should be a huge premium vs USDM cars. We're just getting ripped off it's so annoying. |

I've mentioned this before, but I'll say it again... if you want to buy a roadster in Canada, do like I did and buy a previous model year car the first week in January - smack in the middle of winter and after all of the new year factory to dealer incentives have kicked in. I bought my 2012 35is in the first week of 2013 and the paperwork shows discounts totaling $18,600. Out the door for just under $70,000. Still too much money, but better than $90k all in.
One more thing, I would strongly recommend to anyone to check out your local chapter of the BMW Club. Not sure if they have this elsewhere, but in Canada now, as long as you've been a member of your local club for at least a year, you are entitled to a 2% discount on any new BMW. This comes straight from BMW Canada and is based on MSRP. You are still free to negotiate the best price with the dealer and it shouldn't affect the discount. A yearly membership in my chapter is $60. Oh yeah, and a membership automagically grants you 15% off at the parts counter as well. Not too shabby.

77,000 for my car, Loaded 35i. I'm having way too much fun to complain but it is really expensive for me.

I shopped around for the better part of a year before finding the perfect used Z4 for me: 2009 Z4 35i, navi, upgraded leather, seemingly every option, somebody's weekend toy with 13K miles on it, CPO.
$37k out the door. Had to drive from Houston to Dallas to pick it up; enjoyed the drive back quite a bit more. |

How does anyone ever afford those prices unless everyone is making $300K large!!!!!!! Than would make the a $250k Lamborghini in the US $450k in Switzerland and $800k in Singapore.

Wow. I bought my Z4 35i from another owner for 33k and the car still had 6 months left on the factory warranty. Why buy new, unless you are leasing, when you can get practically the same car that is 3yrs old for less than half

Agreed depreciation is awesome. Key difference is that usage pattern in the first 3 years. Cream puffs barely driven are great. Heavily modded track toys brought back to stock for lease return are not.

Decisions, decisions
Hey all,
I’ve been a long time lurker on these forums, ever since I decided I want to upgrade from my TT to a BMW. So now for my first post, with all this speak of Z4 prices and new vs. used: I’ve got my eyes set on a Z4, in fact two of them and I was wondering what your opinions are regarding my options: Option 1: 2013 Z4 sdrive35i M-Sport with 7-speed DCT: Option 2: 2013 Z4 sdrive35is M-Sport (7-speed DCT as standard) Both cars are demo models from BMW South Africa, and both have 13,000kms mileage. They are both priced identically at R602,000 ($60,200 USD at current exchange rates). The options on both are identical except the 35is has these additional options: 6VC (Combox controller), 620 (Voice control), 524 (Adaptive headlights), 5AC (High Beam Assist) So this leaves me in a pickle, I love the colour, interior and wheels of the 35i and I would probably add a tune to get 35is like performance. On the other hand I love the stock performance of the 35is but I do not like the colour, interior or wheels that much. However, the 35is is at a dealership much closer to me. What do you guys think? Is there anyone here who has driven both vehicles for a comparison or anyone with compelling pics of a Space Grey Metallic Z4 to sway my decision? Thanks in advance guys! |
