Traded In My 2011 35i Manual For a 2015 35i DCT...

Traded in my perfectly great 2011 black on red manual with 35,000 kms for a 2015 black on red DCT with 6000 kms...

I fell so in love with this car when I purchased my 2011 two years ago that I made up my mind to get a newer one closer to the end of production. I settled on a 2015 instead of waiting for a used 2016 only because I discovered that manuals had been phased out after 2014. It would have been my preference...

But, as I was able to add 3 years of CPO on top of the 2+ years left on the original factory warranty, I felt confident enough not to worry about possible powertrain failure down the road. So, for the next 5 years I expect to fully enjoy what I consider to be the prettiest and most practical sports car on the road.

Really not much difference between the 2 cars other than the transmission, the added PDC and the change in dash aluminum finish. Though the 2015 does have the M Sport package with its nice fat steering wheel...

I have only had it a few days... without the benefit of sunny topdown weather, so I can't give my overall impression yet. I do feel that the steering in comfort mode is at least as stiff as the steering was in sport mode on my manual 2011. I don't mind it (my other casual use summer car has no power steering at all!). Also, changes to throttle response in sport mode appear to be less obvious with the DCT than the manual. I haven't noticed any sport mode change in exhaust sound yet as the top hasn't been down, but I loved it on my 2011 and I hope its the same on the 2015.

Anyway, I am now committed to this car for the next 5 years. I truly believe that it is a classic, and I have no doubt that interest in used examples will only rise in the coming years.

If anyone in Canada is looking for a low mileage 2011 35i with manual shift let me know and I will direct you to its current location. It still has almost 2 years of CPO warranty left on it!

Cheers!

well, I'll be curious to read your experience further down the line....
I have a 2011 35is DCT and absolutely love that car!
I will hold onto it for the rest of my natural life probably

I absolutely hated the engine change that happened between 2011 and 2012 and I'm so happy I found my 2011 in very mint condition when I bought it CPO...
Keep us posted!
