Such a lovely car

Hello everyone, I recently joined to the forum from istanbul after getting my baby ''35i'' last week. After driving a mustang for 5 years, new z4 feels like heaven. Even though everything is very smooth and comfortable, it drives like strong sport car. Everyday Ive been driving it at least for 2 hours for fun anyways, hopefully I can get some info from this forum about future plans, I know it is fast but Ive seen couple topics about tuners and I think im very interested .. anyways I just wanted to share the joy, I ll put couple pics too when I get a chance.

Cheers,

Cheers,
I've been thinking of gettting a Mustang as an around-town car; what do you think? I've never been in one, and I'd like to hear the difference between a Mustang/Z4

But what's the interior like? Is the enging muffled and quiet, or does it ring in your ears? How do the comforts compare?

I'm really looking for more than just power; if I get a Mustang, it better be something I'm comfortable sitting in for a few hours

You need to take a test drive. The comfort of a car is much too personal and subjective. Personally, I really like the look of the new Mustang but it is not up to the quality of a BMW. Interior is OK, but not that nice compared to the Z4, IMHO.

I had the s197 body, by then, they had the 4.6 l engine which was loud fast and pretty strong for an american one. They dont handle well unless you are willing to spend some money on couple mods such as shocks, springs, struts.. Now they came out with a 5.0l that was used over 10 years ago. I havent driven that one yet but i hear that it is pretty sick.
If you are planning to get a mustang, you should prepare yourself that you ll face with problems often but the sound and feeling of the car is just priceless too..

ps : ill try to take some pics as soon as this weather allows me

The new 5.0L is a 100% new motor. Nothing at all like the the old push rod 5.0.

That's about par for a modern 3.5 liter 6-cylinder engine:

Lexus IS350 (3.5 L.): 306 hp
Infiniti G37 (3.7 L.): 328 hp
Mustang V6 (3.7 L.): 305 hp
Porsche Boxster S (3.4 L.): 310 hp

All the top American cars that had v6 engines definitely were not making that much horsepower at all,
Mustang v6, 4.0l with a single oh cam making 210 hp
Charger and Chrysler 300 with a 3.8l v6 engine, producing 215 hp and Ive seen people putting their cars on dyno. They were only making abt 170-180 rwhp

So true. In the U.S. torque has long been privileged over top-end power. But they've come a long way the last couple of years, especially at Ford.

Yes, the '11 Mustang 5.0 has specs like the 2000 M5, 5.0l, alum block and heads, DOHC, variable valve timing, 400 HP, etc. It only took Ford 11 years to catch up (The M5 premiered summer of '99). I think it has a slightly higher torque peak but I doubt its a broad as the S62 was.
