Realp to Oberwald. With 1hr 20 stop over in Oberwald before heading back to Realp.

Should be enough time for food and a beer

On car key news.......the GF's car key which was lost on the Rhone Glacier, has been found and handed in to the reception at the Ice Grotto!!

However, we're now a two hour drive away from the Furka pass........could be an early start tomorrow!

@dackelone don't suppose you know of any members near the Furka Pass who could collect a car key from the Ice Grotto and post to the UK?

So, awesome day on the steam railway. We had a short drive from Realp to the next hotel, 67 miles to be exact. Taking in the Oberalppass and a friendly chat with local police. Technically, they didn't pull us over, as we'd been parked for 5-10 mins already, but just blocked us in so we couldn't leave.

Mileage for today.

Tomorrow? Julier pass, Passo di Gavia and the Stelvio.

So, today. Leave the hotel by 9am and start heading towards Italy. As nice as Switzerland is, 7CHF for a cup of tea! Yup, it's expensive, with diesel at CHF1.50 / litre for the cheap stuff. And gotta be so careful on the speed as they'll do you for 1kph over the limit.

Anyway, the route for today......

Nope, sorry. At least someone found her car keys. I guess you guys broughttwo sets of key fobs with you? Maybe they could mail it to you? But if your only a few hours away... you might as well go pick it up yourself. For the peace of mind.

Enjoy the scenery. Bella Italia!! I always feel so good when I cross into Italy when on one of these mountain alpine tours.

Coming down the Stelvio, northern side, the GF swears she got flashed by a speed camera. But the flash was to the side, not front or rear.

I've looked online and can't find anything about a speed camera there.

Well... you will know for sure in a year or so time! lol

The only Blitzer I know of is here... on the SP50 road just before you come into the village(near the only Esso station), then you make a right to go up Stelvio. To go to the Esso you would need to turn LEFT at that intersection.

The Blitzer is on a long straight country road between some farm (corn?)fields. The Blitzer is on a big pole and you have to be blind not to see it! Then you come into the small village at the base of the Stelvio Pass - before turning right and heading up into Trafoi/Stelvio.

Blitzer location...
https://www.google.de/maps/place/SP5...0.569832?hl=en

That said... the Italians don't have to blitz you from up front. They normally blitz you from behind or from the side. And it's a white flash not red like here in Germany.

Btw... IF you are still in Stelvio... you should pay Francesca a visit at the Albergo Post - Posta Hotel in Trafoi.
https://www.google.de/maps/place/Alb....5112445?hl=en

Or at the top of Stelvio... stop at the Perego Hotel where her brother Victor runs the hotel up at the summit. They are both great people. Maybe you could ask them about the Blitzer if your still in the area. ?

I've studied the map again and we didn't use the SP50, just the SS38.

Here is where the suspected flashing happened. Somewhere between the black lines.
