Anyone in the world got this option?

The Handbook indicates an option you CANNOT specify in the UK.

Have a look in the footwell under your glovebox you will find a slot for a lighter socket on the right (left side if LH-drive).
Yes, I've got the slot all right....but nothing fitted within it, no electrics, empty, de nada, zilch
Could have done with that when I was fitting my Road-Angel...hiding the leads at bottom of windscreen, down side, under glovebox, along side threshold of car, behind seat, eventually to emerge under the armrest to plug into the socket there!

Interestingly, you can remove the tray within the armrest by slipping out the rubber mats which lie on the bottom and undoing the 4 TORX screws and just lifting out the tray - a nifty way to introduce any ancilliary wiring.

The other option I would have liked is the button/switch for opening the luggage compartment from inside the car....blanking plate over that one

I think both of the features you mention (in-cabin trunk opening button and the aux-power socket in the passenger foot-well) are standard on NA spec cars. At least my car has them - 35i, no packages added. Both work fine.

My old Z4 had the button switch for releasing the trunk, erm... I mean the luggage compartment or boot

The US Z4 has the boot release on the inside. At the lower left footwell (left hand drive - duh).

Interesting - I've just had my car a few days. Dealer said no aux power, so I didn't look.

I'll look this weekend when I hard-wire my new Passport Escort 9500ix!

And yes, I also have a truck release - DEEP in driver left footwell. Nearly unusable!

Shame

You can't specify the trunk release switch in the UK.

What's that all about?

Some stupido EEC ruling? Can't be surely.

But I wonder if you can spec this in the home country, Germany?

That's odd. Every BMW I've owned has had one, except for the X3 and I hated that.

Where in the passenger footwell? I looked last night in my 09 35i and didn't see one. I'll look again in the daylight outside.

tia!

It's quite deep under the dash (just past where the curve of the glove box flattens out into the footwell) right next to the center console. It angles up into under the dash.

Yes, I believe I found it! Will try to plug something into it next weekend when I'm home.

Your picture, BTW, makes it appear you're pointing at a air vent, which I'm sure isn't your intent.

Thanks for the help!

AHA!!
Never thought of going the 'delete' option on cig lighter/ashtray.
I must keep up

Shame I didn't do that...don't smoke and apart from a plug-in maplight, there's not much else I could plug into the cigarette lighter socket.
Air pump occasionally......??
But the socket under the armrest?
Now that IS useful.

I found it and it works - thank you!

My saleman told me the car didn't have another one, and I didn't see it mentioned in the manual.

Thanks again!
