After much contemplation about exactly what type of small dog we wanted, we have adopted an adorable 3 year old, pure bred loag coat chichuaua! Lady's current owner says she loves to ride in the car and she loves to lie in the sun so perhaps she will be the newest canine rider in a Z4 on the forum. We pick her up on Thusday. She is 6.5 pounds and just precious. She is calm and has a great temper as she was well bred from champion bloodline parents. I wasn't exacly looking for an AKC papered little one but found this one from a wonderful woman. She was actually shown for a while and has the cutest little show trot. I didn't want a puppy but if I did "Roadster" would have been the cutest name for a little male chichuaua!

Too Big?

We have a Great Dane. She hasn't ridden in the Z4 yet. Back in Atlanta, she did make an emergency trip in the MX-5. I wish I had a photo.

She's a beauty! ...and might qualify for our car pool lane rules as a passenger if we outfit her with a ball cap, tuck the ears, and get some sunglasses and a jacket.

Holy smokes the Great Dane is huge! Lady did her first top down ride today int he Z4. She is a great car rider. She really seemed to enjoy it. She just laid on her blanket and took it all in......no bad behavior at all like barking or attempting to abandon ship while moving!

When I take them to the Vet one rides in a dog booster seat so she is strapped in and the other is in the passenger footwell on a blanket cause he does not like car. Not at all.

Anyone know how to disable the annoying seatbelt chime when your buddy is riding with you? Same applies to putting groceries, shopping bags, wives, etc in the passenger seat.

Thanks, Captain Obvious, but I was actually looking for help here. Maybe something that does not involve strangling my dog. Anyone else? What do the rest of you guys do?

They do have devices that will attached to the seat belt and tie to the dogs collar, a strap go between.

Also on the market are various doggie seats your pet can ride in, have protection, and restraint.

I just bought a "Lookout" doggie booster seat for my little one. It is made by Snoozer. My dog is very small, about 6 pounds. The seat gives her a nice nine inch boost and attaches securely to the seat via the seat belt. If you have a harness on your dog, you can clip the dog to the seat. My small dog loves it and now she can see out the windows! If your dog is larger and doesnt need a booster seat, they actually do make special dog harness that clip to the seat belt!

Great input Jayda! MHO pets should be restrained/isolated from driver for everyone's safety.

My boy just came home 12 days ago... he's not riding in the Z until he has a fitted harness that I can belt him in with but here's a preview:

Fantastic new addition to your family. Have your chosen a name for "my boy"? Congrats, and consider some cool aerodynamic carbon fiber ear tubes for him. JK.
I found Outward Hound on line has some booster options :

Thanks for the booster seat link... I'm afraid he'd out grow that in a week. Valyrian "Val" has gained 7 pounds in 15 days, hardly seems like the same pup.
