Chrome to black badging, Carbon rear spoiler
Just a couple of simple mods as I really hate anything chrome on the car. Rear spoiler as a smoking deal, real carbon fiber and an absolute perfect tooling and fit!

Yeah, the elusive ///M Z4. I think they've only made 3 of them. LOL

I did not want to do the "Xdrive" and could not find Sdrive in black.

Maybe just use the 3.5i badge. You'll get "flamed" for that M-badge.

IND near Chicago painted my Z4, 35is and indicators. Not cheap, but well done. They'll match your car colour or another colour of your choice. I've asked for Melbourne Red to semi-match the callipers and to break from the all-black Batmobile look. It's still on trial. Wifey likes it, and that's what counts. I may remove the 35is. Fewer badges is better. Definitely no M badges. A good driver doesn't need that.

Personally I think the E89 tail needs something like a nice spoiler…but…IMHO it’s much much better colour matched..not a fan of C/F tacked on the external bodywork…but each to their own👌

I agree that the rear needs something. I opted for low profile, color matched, along with debadging.
I get the //M badge debate, BMW has devalued the //M badge by putting it everywhere... |

Somebody wrote something like this IRT to fake ///M badges: ‘Those who don’t know won’t get it, those who do will laugh at you.’ And it’s true.
An exception could be made for B21, who put loads of blood, sweat and tears to transform his ride into M-spec and then some. Still, one would have to know the whole story. Show boating isn’t only one way. If you’re putting yourself out there, you’ll get all sorts of critiques and criticisms. |

I know it’s hypocritical of moi but a cooking pot diesel BMW salooon / sedan with a big shiny M badge does look ‘naff’…. But Merc do it with AMG badges in the same way… FWIW the M purists lost their way once M cars were made in the same factories as normal BMWs.. I just like the cosmetic effect of the M badge with the black teardrop repeater against the yellow…for that reason I’m ok with it..the fact that the car has M class brakes, LSD, suspension, engine parts, and a myriad of upgraded steering , powertrain and chassis improvements is bye the bye I think all that S Drive graffiti on the flank looks much ‘naffer’-

Indeed, the M lustre is gone. Long gone. Same with ‘the ultimate driving machine’. The 35is alone, with all its ‘M’ badges is a joke of a sports car for the money. At least new. Diesel saloons even more. |

I respect the fact that we are all entitled to our own opinions! I have owned many BMW's and a couple M cars as well. I have no problem sharing my light mods and I am not looking to "pose" in any way, I am looking for a clean look that I like and everyone is entitled to do so to their liking. To each his own, those that want to "flame"......FLAME away, I certainly don't care!

Wow,getting a little heated. Like one poster mentioned there are now "M" suv's. I agree the "M" pedigee has been tarnished a bit over the years, but if you have an official "M" sport that came from the factory that way then how are you a poser?

However, if your car came with M badges (like mine) you’re not posing. It’s just that. *B21 is an exception because he turned his M-badged car into a M car. |

Not heated at all, just all the opinions on getting flamed is lame, thats all. I also have an X3 M40i, that is not a "real" M car either, but it is badged as "M40i". All good, my Z4 is an "MSport", I like the clean look the way I badged it, that is why I said "flame away", tomato / tomado.

You mentioned b21 now has an "M" because of all the mods, which look to be substantial I will admit-but who has the list of mods that qualify a car to now be an "M"?. I will answer there is none, only what guys on the forum consider worthy mods for it to be. Like I said my car among others came with the "M" badge on the sills and stock steering wheel along with limited options for "M" status. I do not feel myself or any one else that also has an "M" from the factory is posing by adding some badges to the outside-sorry if it hurts the guys with REAL "M"s feeling but you are probably thick skinned enought to take it.

This issue popped up awhile ago on a Mercedes board regarding ///AMG badging.
It seems that the manufacturers themselves have diluted their own brands at their own choice. AMG was originally separate from Mercedes and used to mean "one man- one engine" where a single mechanic built the AMG performance engine along with other high performance parts... Now Mercedes bought AMG and slaps AMG logos on everything. If it came from the factory with the ///M or ///AMG logo, then the factory says its that. Adding badges is just that... adding badges. It doesn't make anything more valuable or better. IMO the differential is in tuner badges... like Alpina or Dinan, etc... I think it's fine to add a tuner badge if you have performance mods from that brand. |

I added the M simply cause it added a certain je ne sais quoi to the BMW rounded and gloss black repeater …I didn’t feel tempted to add it to the boot…but.. To come back to the point of what makes a real M car then I’d suggest ‘real’ M cars compared to their similar brethren have.. Uprated suspension ..and.. More powerful engine with ‘exotica’ added…and.. Bigger / more complex / sexier looking brakes …and… Traction enhancing devices such as LSD, AWD…and.. Cosmetic upgrades interior …and.. Cosmetic , faux, real aerodynamic devices externally… Discuss ! -
