Anyone wonder why X3's have torque & HP meters and we don't?

My wife and I recently got 2014 vehicles, an X3 and a Z4.

The X3's iDrive blows the Z4's out of the water. The Z4 has basically the same system as my 2011 did. The X3's is significantly updated in many areas.

The one that amuses me the most is that there are onscreen sport mode gauges consisting of HP and torque meters. Of *course* that's needed on what's basically a truck and *not* on a twin-turbo roadster...

SUPER annoying, for sure, like realizing that my brand new 2012 35is still didn't have LED angel eyes. Sadly, given that the Z4 is a low-volume, niche automobile, we get the slow, trickle-down effect for tech gadgetry.

Well, I'll argue that this IS the next-generation Z roadster, but I know what you mean.

The part that makes little sense is that they're doing software updates (that are basically free to BMW since some software needs to be installed anyway) on less-expensive lines to add features that would more sense on other, equally-new models.

Weird. I'm positive my 2011 35iS *did* have the LED angel eyes.

I don't really need any additional amusement from the instrument cluster when driving my car. Maybe with a X3 that is necessary.

I think it is because e89 is so slow selling I think BMW has given up on trying up update it and is just doing the bare minimum with colors and trim packages to keep it going until a redesign

Nope, it had the orange angel eyes

2014 has white ones, but they're not the same as on the LCI E92/93
