Yeah that's the CLS63 with AWD and the 5.5L biturbo.

The W205 will have an A-wing front splitter, like the W212 E63 and the new S63 coupe.

What It Is:

The spiced-up version of Mercedes-Benz’s already tasty 2015 C-Class sedan, making its inevitable spy shot debut in Europe. Just as the standard C-class is a shrink-wrapped version of the S-class, the C63 AMG will look like a scaled-down S63 AMG, with similarly gaping outboard front air intakes, LED headlamps, and an integrated rear diffuser housing quad exhaust tips. The new C63 AMG does not receive wider bodywork, but new thin-spoke wheels, chunky brake discs, and a trunklid spoiler are clearly visible. A single horizontal blade bisects the grille, while the vaned air extractors from the front bumper of the outgoing C63 have disappeared.

We can’t see the interior in these pictures, but you can bet your last pfeffernüsse that it will pack aggressive sports seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and sundry upgraded materials. Also, in keeping with most other AMG models, expect the gear selector to relocate to the center console.

Why It Matters: The C63 AMG is Mercedes-Benz’s answer to the iconic BMW M3 and its M4 sibling, which were just redesigned for 2015, and it will also stare down Cadillac’s upcoming ATS-V. As the cheapest way into a rear-drive AMG product, the C63 serves as a pillar of Mercedes’ performance-car family. It also will be built as a coupe and possibly a convertible for America, a new wagon version for Europe, and a Black Series model.

Platform: Based as it is on the latest W205 C-class, the C63 AMG shares much of its underlying architecture with the E- and S-class sedans. The C63 will launch with rear-wheel drive, but a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive version could appear sometime down the road.

Powertrain: In the interest of reducing its relentless thirst, the 2015 C63 AMG will downsize from its hairy-chested, naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 to a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V-8. (Pour one out for the 6.2—it was one of God’s own engines.) Output likely will rise to somewhere between 460 and 500 horsepower, putting some distance between the hot C and the turbocharged inline-six-powered M3, which has 425. The only transmission will be Mercedes’ seven-speed Speedshift automatic transmission, which uses a multiplate clutch instead of a torque convertor. Paddle shifters and launch control will be part of the deal, too.

Competition: Cadillac ATS-V, BMW M3/M4, Lexus IS F.

Estimated Arrival and Price: When Mercedes lets a thinly disguised prototype out on public roads, the official unveiling usually isn’t far off, so we expect a photo and info dump soon. The in-the-metal debut is almost certainly scheduled for this fall’s Paris auto show. The new C63 AMG should arrive at dealers by the first quarter of 2015, with base prices starting in the low- to mid-$60K range.

The AMG doesn't seem to be any wider then the normal C-Class. I wonder how that'll have an affect on handling.

You're right. It doesn't appear to be wider, but it has to, doesn't it? Otherwise they're gonna run into serious traction problems. The car we've seen doesn't look like it will be able support the hp it will be outputting.

I doubt it will. It's at least 1.7" wider than the outgoing W204. It's also a few inches longer.

Furthermore, it will weigh 220+ lbs less than the W204. Every test mule has been seen with at least 265-section tires in the rear (slightly wider than the W204's 255-section standard rears).

It's wider than the outgoing car though, and that's key.

It's also getting a significantly more modern suspension than the W204. And the LCI W204's suspension was no slouch.

It'll be able to handle the power, but it'll still have the trait of wanting to hang its tail out that's characteristic of AMG.

I have no doubt in my mind the car is going to be amazing. The only problem is that it just doesn't look aggressive enough......

The better to blow people's doors off with.

Almost 2" wider and 220 lbs less is nice.

I'm in the same boat. I like for performance sedans to look different than the base car. But I've had no problem discerning a c63 from a c class in the past. MB will have some aggressive styling cues to separate it.

These seats better be standard.

Because the other spy pics showed some boring seats with separated headrests.

They might be standard and the seats with headrests could be optional.

Either way, it's nice to have a choice!

Those Recaro seats look amazing!

LOL. I find this hard to believe.

Let's look at the facts thus far. C&D did the VIR lightning lap, the C63 Black Series which had 510 hp and weighed over 4000 lbs was nearly 3 seconds faster on a 3 minute lap than the current M4...and the kicker, the M4s 3:00.7 was done on a freshy paved track which accounts for a good 2-4 seconds of that time. So essentially the M4 time would have likely been more in the 3:02.7-3:04.7 range showing how far behind it is compared to mercedes prior gen car. Even the E63 was faster than the m4 and every other M car on the market and that car is massive.
I am willing to bet the new c63 is going to be better in a lot of regards than the M3.
Merc at their best these days is simply better than BMW at its best.

Absolutely agree. The W205 is going to bring it. Especially in S guise.

The new C is very handsome inside and out. The quality of materials used on the interior simply put, blows anything BMW has out of the water. Makes the 3 series feel like a Toyota interior. Very nice job by Mercedes.
