BMW Posted a New Technical Service Bulletin Regarding Battery

Just like the title says, BMW put out a new technical service bulletin this month regarding the battery of 2011 Z4. Not sure which other year models are affected. http://www.allworldauto.com/tsbs/NHT...in_404063.html

What exactly does that mean? Was this resolved by the recent recall?

I just had this recall fixed last week. I think it's the same issue.

Didn't even know about this. Guess it's time to make a trip to the dealer. Maybe get that 3.5k mile oil change I was going to do myself done too (cause, you know, you can never be too sure)

I was told that the faulty connector could cause the seatbelt to fail to tighten in an accident. Of course, they were eager to fix that.

I thought that seatbelts were purely mechanical in operation?

I thought so to, since they don't "restrain" you and "tug/tighten" when you put it on like it does on my Merc.

However, it may have sensors where if the car experiences a certain G, it will lock easier and reduce the threshold? My Porsche does this on sharp but slow turns, where the body roll would not normally lock the seatbelt, but it does anyway if your body leans into the turn. Haven't really paid attention in the Z.

Would be interested in knowing about the E89's seatbelt. Regardless, might be good to get that battery changed anyway.

Recall changes are completely free, right? Or is it like warranty repairs where there is a $50 deductible.

Yup, it's free. I'm already out of warr and had it done a while ago.

I'm not sure, I may have misunderstood them or they were just being their usual stealership selves and not giving me the whole story :P
