RFT Bridgestone Thread Depth after 14,290 MILES

Bridgestone Specification (Thread Depth) for my Tire Size.

Front 225/35R19 Thread Depth 10 mm (0.394 Inch) ~ 25/64”
Rear 255/30R19 Thread Depth 11 mm (0.433 Inch) ~ 7/16”

For the BRIDGESTONE Specification Table Click Here

For a PDF Bridgestone Warranty and Tips file Click here

Measurement of my tires TODAY after 22,825 KM service

My Front Driver Side …….. 0.311” (7.899 mm) ~ 5/16”
My Front Passenger Side … 0.312” (7.924 mm) – 5/16”

My Rear Driver Side …….. 0.255” (6.477 mm) ~ Ό”
My Rear Passenger Side … 0.266” (6.756 mm) ~17/64”

Tire Wear after 22,825 KM

My Front Driver Side …….. 0.394” – 0.311” = 0.083” ~ ”
My Front Passenger Side … 0.394” – 0.312” = 0.082”~ ”

My Rear Driver Side …….. 0.433” – 0.255” = 0.178” ~ “
My Rear Passenger Side … 0.433” – 0.266” = 0.167” ~ ”

PROJECTED WEAR TO SAY 20,000 MILES ~ 32,000 KM

Based up on worse wear (say 23,000 KM ~ 14,291 Miles driven) of Driver Side Rear Tire

20,000 Miles – 14,291 Miles now driven = 5,709 Miles to be driven then

5,709 miles to be driven * 0.0000124445” wear per mile = 0.071” Additional Projected Wear …. Then 0.255” (rear tire condition now) - 0.071” (additional projected wear) = 0.184” ~ 3/16” Thread Depth Left after 20,000 Miles or 32,186 KM.

I will very likely change my tires sooner then this. However, this is a interesting way to project your thread life. As others have stated it all depends on the way you drive and the roads you travel on.

Remember on my 13,303 KM American 3 week trip that I concluded one week ago I drove some of the beast and worse American Highways. I drove thru the Mohave Desert (I only did this since it was a wish of my daughter) in the Desert at 6 foot above sea level the temperature was 49 C (120 F) so you don’t drive under these sort of conditions every day. One must keep that in mind.

For photos of all my 4 tires, the tool I used to measure the tread etc. Go to this link of my Garage ….

Photos taken of my tire condition today ... Click here

I will keep a very close eye on my tires (weekly) for as long as I have the dreadful RFT on my toy ☺

Cheers,

Rolf-Dieter

It was pointed out to me that the Numbers 10 and 11 in the Bridgestone Table represent 10/32" and 11/32" .... NOT 10 or 11 MM.

I made corrections based upon that for the record here ... sorry about that

so please use these corrected numbers not the ones in the original post above.

RFT Bridgestone Thread Depth after 14,290 MILES

Bridgestone Specification (Thread Depth) for my Tire Size.

Front 225/35R19 Thread Depth 10/32” (0.3125”)
Rear 255/30R19 Thread Depth 11/32” (0.3438”)

Measurement of my tires TODAY after 22,825 KM service

My Front Driver Side …….. 0.311” ~ 5/16”
My Front Passenger Side … 0.312” ~ 5/16”

My Rear Driver Side …….. 0.255” ~ Ό”
My Rear Passenger Side … 0.266” ~17/64”

Tire Wear after 22,825 KM

My Front Driver Side …….. 0.3125” – 0.311” = 0.0015” ~ ”
My Front Passenger Side … 0.3125” – 0.312” = 0.0005”~ ”

My Rear Driver Side …….. 0.3438” – 0.255” = 0.089” ~ “
My Rear Passenger Side … 0.3438” – 0.266” = 0.078” ~ ”

PROJECTED WEAR TO SAY 20,000 MILES ~ 32,000 KM

Based up on worse wear (say 23,000 KM ~ 14,291 Miles driven) of Driver Side Rear Tire

20,000 Miles – 14,291 Miles now driven = 5,709 Miles to be driven then

5,709 miles to be driven * 0.00000445” wear per mile = 0.025” Additional Projected Wear …. Then 0.255” (rear tire condition now) - 0.025” (additional projected wear) = 0.230” ~ 15/64” Thread Depth Left after 20,000 Miles or 32,186 KM.

Getting 20,000 miles out of high performance summer tires would be pretty good. 16k miles is about par for the course for this kind of tires.
Of course a highway trip takes less of a toll than spirited country road driving.
