Arrow First Moving Sights and Sounds of Z4 sDrive28i N20 Turbo 4

COMMENTS

Here we have the first official BMW video of the z4 sDrive28i with its Twinpower Turbo 2.0L inline 4-cylinder N20 motor. While the exterior of the car remains the same, it's the sounds that makes the video interesting.

This is the first good official clip of the Z4 N20 engine and exhaust. Keep in mind that this won't necessarily be how the N20 will sound on the upcoming F10 528i and F30 328i, as each BMW's sound is tuned differently.

How does the Z4 N20 drive? The first reviews (Autoblog, C/D) began rolling in recently.

N20

Mom ordered a N20 X1 28i M Packet on saturday. She sold her X1 23d. I think that this N20 will sound better than the 23d

No disappointment. That sound is actually pretty nice for a 4-cylinder.
Now I just need to test drive it!!

Not really since as I recall it, the N20 is running on moderately high boost (17PSI?). Not sure what more can be done.

The front of the car looks good. The sound in the video was not in sync with the movement of the car.

Wow seems pretty expensive for a 4 banger. Z4 or w.e, that's overpriced IMO

In everyday driving, the N20 is noticeably more responsive, although its sound is nowhere near as alluring as that of the engine it replaces. BMW says that will be fixed on certain models, including on an updated Z4 sDrive28i, with the addition of an electronic sound generator.

Make sure you specify Italian V12 sound on your order sheet.

Looks and sounds good.

On a side note I drive that canyon once a week. It's located between Fillmore and Moorpark ca. It's the north end of SR-23.

Sounds really good, nice and deep with some noticeable burbling and popping when the driver let off. Great for a 4cyl.

Now what is this sound generator nonsense about?
