I plan to "retire" before I turn 55 (46 now), which in reality will mean I have a job that I may take, may keep the one I have, may work part time, may quit to go on a month long vacation or quit because I don't like it anymore or want to try something new. Mainly I save a lot of money so I have a lot of options to do what I want later. Doesn't mean I don't do what I want now but I think the pay now or pay later, with compounding makes the "pay" early in life a lot easier than later.

My wife and I went on a vacation in Argentina for 10 days and many were there for 2-3 weeks or even a month or more. With my current line of work, and most good paying jobs this will never happen or at least very infrequently so I look forward to getting to the point where I just decide to go and if it means quitting my job I am fine with it.

Based on my goals I don't see myself ever buying a new M.

Well, that's what I did when I was his age and I ended up pretty good. But..will end up better by not doing that.

squatting (at least on Sharks' land) means zero expenses, not even on entertainment. Drunks come out, drop alcohol when running away, and can't really provide any deterrent from maintaining residency.

It would still be a better return on investment then say, Enron stocks.

Well, at you age I'd put 8-10k on my stocks, then use $750 to start a business, afterwards purchase the vehicle under your biz name. Claim the payments in your biz expenses..order the vehicle and have it shipped to a state where there's no taxes.. Just saying there's ways to beat the system...👌🏻

Don't I need a drivers license from that state and then register it under that state

So glad I got the cheap/fake M, M2! My mind must subconsciously know how to be thrifty when it comes to picking a car.

Frankly, you shouldn't even really call it anything other than what it really is - a 2 series. Poser.

Lease it. This way it's a short term commitment.

Do a good job of buying used and no commitment, essentially get all or close to all you have in it even if you decide a month in you don't want it. I see the lease as one of the hardest vehicles to change your mind on.

Buy E46 and wait a few years before getting F80. When you get F80, turn E46 into a dedicated race car.

I'm considering this path

Any reason E46 over E92 or STI?
