Remove inlet air scoop in bumper

Good morning,

I want to paint the little sliver trim cover of the lower air inlet in the front bumper. Does anybody know how to best do that?

The silver rod, you can just pull out with a little force, I painted mine but the surround is already black on mine so I didn't need to remove it. Here's a thread that might help: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ighlight=grill
