Wireless head-up display

I just wanted to share something that I just came across while looking for a decent WIRELESS (emphasis here as I dislike cables running to OBD port) head-up display. Cost $259 (no tax + free shipping)

I came across several products that are all wired except for 1 that is in Beta stage, but is shipping now. It's called Carloudy (http://www.carloudy.com/). Check it out. It seems like the smallest profile AND wireless intelligent head up display offered. I placed an order 10 mins ago for the shipping Android version (you'd have to pre-order the iPhone version as they're not available just yet.)

Oh btw, I'm not a affiliated with this company -- in fact I found out about it about 15 mins ago.

I'd end up leaving this on the dash and someone would steal it as I have the top down 80% of the time.

I've got a HUD in the X3 and love it, just have to wear my non-polarized sunglasses though

Same for me. Not something I want to take out of the storage cubby, turn it on. Oops .. it needs charged, connect it to the phone, put it away when I park, try to keep it from sliding around on the dash, etc.

I think there is a little bit of exaggeration here. According to their website, it needs to be re-charged once every 2 weeks assuming you drive an hour a day/7 days a week -- so this is quite reasonable to me. As far as the connection goes, you can connect it either to the car, or to your phone (and your phone will remember the device, so manually connecting on start-up will not be necessary -- it will happen automatically.) And to your final point, I don't think it stands out so much that you'll need to take it off whenever you leave your car (I certainly will experiment with leaving it out even though I live in SF) -- I think most people observing it will think it's part of the dash.

Anyways, it is arriving sometime tomorrow. I will install it, take a few pics and share with you my experience with it.

It's a piece of crap. I'm literally going to throw it away as soon as they respond in the negative to my request for a refund. Lesson learned.

Ugh. Sorry about that.

My biggest fear was the actual visibity of the display reflecting on the glass.

Did you pay by PayPal or similar? Also, your credit card has purchase protections as well.

The reflective film that is is taped on the window is so heavily tinted that it is barely transparent, such that it's like trying to see through a sticker. Big no no.

Second, it's nearly impossible to firmly seat the tablet atop the sticky mat that is placed on top of the dashboard since there is really no level space in front of the driver (this might work with other cars where top of the dashboard is level on the driver side.)

And furthermore, there is also shadow reflected onto the film, further obscuring your vision of the road.

I emailed support back, and they agreed to refund me if I ship it back (at my cost). So that's the only saving grace.

I wish there is a solution like the OEM BMW HUD (I've only experienced it driving '16 M4 and it was so amazing)
