Edmunds InsideLine reviews the BMW Z4 sDrive35is

Edmunds recently took the sDrive35is out for a spin and give us their impressions:

Quote:
The 2010 BMW Z4 sDrive35is wants to take its place next to the Audi TT-RS, Mercedes-Benz SLK and Porsche Boxster S/Cayman S, and it has some visual snap to show it.
Quote:
Performance certainly isn't a problem. The 2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is's engine is easily the most effective inline-6 with a BMW badge right now
Quote:
As impressive as these figures are, they fail to convey the whole story. What the Z4 sDrive35is offers is terrifically strong, infinitely usable and ultimately stirring performance.
Quote:
The Z4's standard electric-assist steering has been tweaked to endow the sDrive35is with a meatier feel and added levels of feedback compared to lesser versions of the two-seat roadster. It weights up nicely through corners and delivers sharp response both at lower speeds around town and as the pace increases out on the open road.

well great - can we upgrade the steering of my wife's 35i???? this is my only complaint about an otherwise great car - i.e., numb and too light steering even in sport or sport+ mode

I'm sure it's real nice car, and I bet it's pushing 80K loaded!

I saw a loaded Z4 at the dealership for 66k. WOW

Using the money saved on an ED was the only way it was possible for me..., otherwise with my meager config it would have been 72K (msrp). On the plus side much of what I would have added is standard on this model.

saw a whit 35is on the Autobahn 20min ago...
it really looks nice!
the front looks more agressive and the car appears to be lower

- well done BMW

even though they could have tweaked the engine a bit more to raise the rev limit and to increase the power output to 360-380hp whilst ensuring longevity (see Alpina)

but the main flaw of this car is.......its price
for this kind of money I`d rather opt for an M3 or a Cayman S / Boxter Spyder

No they are not yet available in the US yet, not even on the website. Ebeem, who just saw a white one, is in Germany....

However, I have ordered one for ED without seeing it in person based on reviews like the one above.

Yeah, if you go to the BMW Germany site your can configure one online!

http://www.bmw.de/de/de/general/conf...figurator.html

Wish we could could here in the states.

But it seems to me that you can configure one on the UK site as well, including the M Sport version, but I think the site has been down lately.

That article is great!

I was really hoping that the 35is would be more than a 35i with slightly different badging. BMW did a nice job!
