Both cars look great! Mine is Atacama as well, but I would probably go with the black-out effect on mine.

A few questions:

How did you prep the surface of the silver half prior to painting...just rough it up a bit with some sandpaper first?

Did you apply a primer coat? Did you use that plastic-optimized spray paint?

Did you notice that "spray paint" odor in the car after it's closed up for a while, and if so how long did that linger?

I took off the covers and dropped them off at the paint and body shop the BMW uses here in San Antonio - not sure how they were prepared, but they look smooth and it appears to be the same surface as the body paint type. If I remember right I paid $120. No odor.

I wrapped mine in carbon fibre and the front part in Alcantara.

If you also want to do the Alcantara front part, I recommend to steam heat the material first. There's some hard curves to wrap...

bit,
I scuffed the surface with medium Scotchbrite and then wiped them down with a lint-free rag damp with laquer thinner. No primer was needed for my Flat Black paint.
Not plastic-optimized paint.
The smell was gone in two days. I left the top down in the garage till they no longer gave off any odor.
