To get the sports suspension, you have to have sports package or M package I believe.
But, UK might be different since this info is based on US model.

In the UK you must order the car with adaptive suspension, I know, I have it. Its a £960 option as I recall.
To see if you have it, either ask BMW for the factory spec, or, look under the car, at the end of the strut is a small bell shaped object, this is the electro magnet, it has a cable running from/to it. Also, test drive it on a rough surface and switch between normal and sport +, you'll soon know if you have it as the results are either in your head, or down your spine! lol |

Its easy to notice if you are driving. Especially if you have the 19" wheels.
Normal mode makes for a slightly floaty ride in comparison to the harder sports and sports+ setting. I find I flip into normal mode just before I come up to the worst sections of bumpy roads and then flick back to sports once past them. When I forget, the car and road remind me very quickly. What I would like to see is a separation of the adaptive dampers from the throttle / gearbox and steering sharpness with the normal/sport/sport+ button. Many times I would prefer to have the softer damper settings but the faster box and throttle.
