Dash trim removal

Anyone know of a write up or how to remove the dash/door/console trim pieces? I'm planning on painting the pieces body colored.

Dash is quite easy:

-Pull out ignition key cover (first pic)
-Pull out Radio Cover (second pic)
-Pull out Passenger Dash side cover (third pic)

-Unscrew all Torx Screws
-Gently pull the dash out
-Unplug the Ignition and the Climate Control

(Can someone translate into english? Found these pics some time ago cant remember where)

That's interesting.
Never known a car with so many rattles behind the dash.

Thanks, that's perfect! Anyone have anything on the trim panels on the doors or the small one on the drivers side of the steering wheel?

Well, a centre console trim as well as both dash trims swapped to "Alu Carbon" (btw, thanks for the pictorial above ) but it came to no ends with the door trims .... loosened the torx underneath the door handle, pried loose its forward end, but cannot figure the way how to pry the rest of it.

Anyone knows "how to"?

You can use following video clip.
However passenger door is little bit different. You have to pry off door handle and there will be 2 torx screws.
(Don't know how to put video on thread.)

Hey that looks easier than accessing the fuses in the E89

(for those not in the know, this is not a joke)

Were you ever able to get the door panel trim pieces swapped out? Also, how does the trim piece to the left of the steering wheel come out? Does that one just pull out?

I was able to take the door trim out today. All you have to do is keep prying with the trim removal tool. There are very tine clips towards the end and will not survive the removal. The major clips are still intact so should be fine.

are these enough to remove the trim?

they're too chubby to fit through the gaps of the radio (battery for scale)

If you have the extended leather option do not follow the instructions above, or you will end up with a broken ignition key cover!

- Start by removing the centre console as per the instructions above.

- Then remove the plastic fascia underneath the head unit, it will pull free.

- There are two screws holding in the head unit, undo these and lower the head unit out of it's frame, this is covering two of the screws for the large dash trim.

- Remove the remaining screws in the glove box, once all of the screws are out you should be able to remove the trim with a trim removal tool.

- Remove the trim with the light controls with a trim removal tool, there are no screws for this piece.

There are two versions of the ignition key cover with different appearances: One is with clips and screws. Just identify your version from the picture in the link below.
