23i 6MT MY2011 - shorter diff?
Been looking for used (nonetheless almost new) 30i for over half year, to no avail. I am just about to make a compromise and go for a 23i (MY2011, 10k km, show-drive direct form Munchen) bearing both truly lovely setup and even more lovely pricetag.
Nonetheless there is an issue to be solved first: should I decide to go for it, first thing I´d do would be a diff swap - 3.64 (serie) to be replaced with something much "shorter" (let say 4.26). Will anybody help me to answer following question: Does anything like that exist? Frankly speaking, I do know Quaife only, there is something at their website for 23i, but they do not stat the gear ratio... othewise I am blind, do not know what/where to look for... A shorter LSD diff might be even better, but this is not a must. Thanks. Last edited by pavproch; 05-02-2013 at 08:13 AM.. |

Correct, the 23i has a final gear ratio of 3.64 :
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...84&hg=33&fg=05 and the 30i 4.27 : http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...84&hg=33&fg=05 Nice thought you 're having, you 'll only need the crown and pinion to modify your final drive so no need to deal with birds (don't like k. that's it), any competent shop that 's done the swap before could undertake it once you source the parts which shouldn't be that difficult. However you 'll miss the power, the 30i should be the most balanced car of the series. |

well, I think I know the difference - actually I am sporting 330ixT MY2011 (N53B30OB, 200kW)
unfortunatelly, there are no 30i´s available within my budget and, moreover riding the Z with hardtop down at excessive speeds is definitely not my preference |
