That is one of the great advantages of living in Scotland, its cold and wet most of the time..I only dream of dash board's bubbling!

I dont think its just because of the warm climate.

I live even more towards the north pole than both of you... Its not exactly tropic or desert climate up here In Estonia.

And yes i have had dash bubbles develop aswell... I try to catch them early to not allow them to get big and i use leatherglue and a medical syringe to inject new clue under the leather, then put some pressure on it and let it cure. But i have done it already twice... and im sure i will do it again and again...
Before going the syringe route i did try using a heatgun method...idea is to carefully heat the spot up so the glue under it would melt/ become sticky again and reglue itself... for me this attempt wasnt very successful... syringe seems to work better...

An yea Drummer$Dude i had same issue exactly in the same spot... passenger side upper dash.

and this is not just a z4 issue... all bmw-s with leather dashes do this... 6 series coupes from same era for example i have seen horrid examples of this issue...

There’s a very thin ‘blow off’ panel in the middle of the passenger dash where the airbag is….maybe it overheats there…?

Interesting question B21. I will check on that once we have some hot weather here in July and use my Infrared Digital Thermometer.

The journey continues..I revisited the bond(ar)ing of the c/f fronts to the various switches..I used a hot glue gun and with the clamping force and flex they were starting to separate ..this time it’s epoxy resin..and clamps..the mother f@€kers shouldn’t move this time..

Next in line was the fitment of the ID4Motion cluster to the removed instrument binnacle…the problem (among many) is that the novel construction of the adapter results in about 3-5mm float / jiggle between the body of the cluster and the binnacle…so resorted to a bit of silicone mastic and yet again some trusty clamps..

Dash now fitted..I thought I’d lost the starter cable so took it out again..only to find it lying on the floor..

The A pillars were covered in leather..boy what a bitch to make them fit..I guess not surprising that if you keep adding material then it’s going to cause issues..

So yet more clamps required to hold A pillar covers in place whilst top windscreen trim put into place..now the self tapping holes that hold the sun visors in place are too loose..so have to order some fractionally thicker torx headed self tappers..

As an aside ..have you ever tried to balance a male headed torx bolt on its socket to try and start a difficult to reach bracket…ie the steering column brackets..it’s a bitch....

Despite all this I am enjoying this..I think..

Coming back together …rear cabin cinched up…

New c/f covered roll over hoops with nice leather fronts with themed yellow stitching..

Rear cam now mounted neatly …

Remounted spoiler..my god that 3M tape sticks ..I’ve got the rear slightly mounted off the line on the boot in the middle..looks like a custom diffuser gap…only visible to moles..

There's nothing wrong with that.

I was going to add Runrig to the list but that would blow the average North American taste buds…

Exotic patois are cool, but one must have minimum standards. Runrig is rough.

That just removed any possibility of getting a Scottish entry visa….

Hmmm, I've never heard of "Snowy White" so I'll be looking that up.

The CD changer in my Infiniti is loaded up with Ratt, Thin Lizzy, ELO, Boston, America and Bob Seger. My band used to play Come to Papa.

Music on my cell that I stream via Bluetooth has been stuck on Judas Priest and Three Dog Night, and a slice of Bread now and then.

B21, I never imagined your 35is Winter Upgrade thread would turn right onto Music Boulevard. LOL

I’ve got around 5,400 tracks on over 400 CDs loaded onto an old iPhone which is encoded in 192 kb apple compression plugged into the usb port in the centre armrest…but…

I’ve recently started using YouTube music and it’s been a revelation as it’s very clever and suggests music based on your already specified tastes ..I’ve discovered Snowy White through that (although I already has Bird of Paradise)..plus Gary Moore and lots of other blues/rocky type folks..I play that through my Mr 12 Volt MMI car play..fab..

I’ll get back on the build thread soon..

Too late. A string of broken hearts in Edinburgh have banned me for life in those areas.
