JB3 version 1.3 VS version 2.0

Is there a difference in performance between JB3 v 1.3 VS v2.0, is it worth the upgrade?

Wow sounds good, how do I upgrade? Is new hardware needed, or is it simply a software update?

Just installed the JB3 2.0 upgrade and the improvement is incredible!

The throttle response and acceleration are really good now.

I would recommend this upgrade to anyone who has a JB.

I did buy the data cable but the only thing you really need is the 2.0 upgrade chip. You just take out the JB3, open the cover and swap the chip. You don't need the cable unless you want to monitor engine parameters or change settings.

As long as you have the JB3 version with the serial port connector, you should just need this http://www.burgertuning.com/jb3update.html.

As far as installing the JB3 (plug and play), the Z4 is much easier than other BMWs. The ECU sits right in the engine bay up high and all you need is a torx screw driver. The whole install process took me half an hour (I could do it in 10 minutes now that I've done it once). I'd come over and help you out but it's a bit far

Cheers,
Marc

Hi godius, wouldn't it be nice to monitor the enginge to see what different addons do? like different airfilter, exhaust ond so on? I think a chipburner would be worth it. Or am i missing something here?

I run map 3 since 91 octane is the only choice in California. I noticed a huge difference between 1.4 and 2.0. Hmmm...

Huge, as in more power? How much more HP is claimed between 1.4 and 2.0? Looking at some dyno charts, I couldn't find any real difference. People talked about smoother ride, but I also am not sure what should be smoother, what do I really feel?
