Opinions on the Styling 356 Wheels

I stumbled across these rims at the dealer last time I visited:

They were mounted on a Mojave metallic 650i and it looked gorgeous, and from what I´ve calculated they should fit.

Opinions on the look?

I think they'll look nice. 20" though aren't they? that will mean expensive tyres and very little protection to prevent rim damage.

Fits perfect the Havana/Mojave color. Really a looker.

I agree the rims will fit..... now with the tires mounted that is another story. I predict rubbing at all 4 corners. 20" are too big IOM, it will look like a ricer mod with big wheels and little brakes.

Or do you mean it will look like a rice generally? I have to disagree then

Sorry, I don't. I haven't found a kit that up-sizes both front and rear brakes and maintains the parking brake

Can you get a similar look by painting a smaller diameter wheel?

I think it is pretty hard to find someone that does "Black Chrome" coating and I think it is pretty expensive to do. So I assume I would be paying the same amount of money for a not genuine BMW wheel with a smaller Diameter...

2 minutes on google and I found a place that does this for $175/wheel and their site suggests they did it for Jay Leno's Vette

http://www.calchrome.com/Black-Chrome

Another member recently posted about getting a set of BBS wheels for ~$600, so in theory you could get a 'black chrome' set of BBS wheels for about $1400.

Personally, I think smaller diameter light weight wheels are the way to go

Thanks for the link but I guess I could buy a full set of 356´s for the shipment costs.

I wasnt able to find anything similiar so I guess I have to give it a try. I found a F30 on this forum with these wheels:

Nice. Those are always a winning look on the E89

Thanks for the F30 link. Gives me some ideas for my F30...

By the way, shipping cost for wheels is not that high. I believe it was something like $150 - $200 for a set of 4 wheels and tires via UPS Ground when I purchased a set from Cedar

I live in central Europe so I expect it to be a lot more expensive then 200$
I have to agree they look awesome on the F30!

Found out that the F30 Performance Brakes fit the E89, not sure if the Parkingbrake still works with them.

I briefly looked into this and my understanding is that the parking brake does not work. F30 has traditional mechanical parking brake and as you know our E89 has the electronic parking brake.

upgrade the front and paint match the rear. It'll look decent.

I have to admit I never use the PB. Thinking of ditching it. Only worry is the gurantee.

In the future if you have an issue with the gearbox there may be a temptation to point to lack of parking brake putting pressure on gearbox to hold the car in place when parked on hills

I guess it is a 'pay to play' situation anyway, if you are showing up to the shop with huge brakes and other modifications
