Finally replaced the run-flats

Just drove the Z4 home from the dealer after having them replace the Bridgestone run-flats with Yokohama S-Drive tires. What a difference!! Wish I had done this months ago! Much better ride, improved handling, and virtually no road noise...

That's what everyone says. Enjoy your ride.

First, where do you put the spare, and where do you get a tire jack/kit?

Second, my front two Potenzas are about shot, and my rears are fine.

If I elect to go to non run-flats, can I do them by just replacing the front pair first? Or would that throw the handling way off whack?

Any thoughts are very appreciated!

I picked up a BMW emergency tire repair kit. Doesn't take up much room, then agian i dont drive the z very far. I only put on 8000 miles on the car and its my DD:

Well, this is not based on personal experience, but the latest gen RFTs should get you almost half way and without the added hassle and loss of control/grip in case you get a flat.

Personally I saved the money. I will have to call a flatbed and try not to whine too much about it if I ever get stranded or crash due to a flat.

Are you saying you wore out your front tires before your rears? Usually it's the other way around. How'd you do that?

N52 aren't as hard on the rear tires as N54

Nope, my rear tires actually wore out first, so I replaced them. There was no need to replace the fronts at that time. So now its time to replace the front tires. So, do I switch out those front tires to non run flats with the idea that when the rears wear out I do the same? Or replace the fronts with a better ride RFT than the Potenzas.

When my fronts were done, so were the second set of rears, so I swapped them all out at that time. (This was a previous E89, not this one). I've always read that you want the same tires all around to match tire capabilities front and rear. Certainly folks run different tires, but it's not recommended.

I think some on here have mixed RFT and non RFT without issues. I personally wouldn't try it...

OK decision made, however, what I will likely do is switch the fronts to a better RFT and do the same when the rears wear out.
