Car won't start, smoking coming out of engine bay?
Hi, I drive a 128i, and my mom drives a new Z4(the one that has 250 hp, same engine as my 128i inline six i believe). This morning she told me her car would not start. I went to go check on it. It is somewhat cold, but we are in Texas, I am sure the car can handle 30 degrees. I turned on the car, and it started to crank and make a sound. After about 5 seconds, it seems as if the engine turned on, but then made a sound, shut off, and white smoke started to come out. After waiting awhile, I checked the hood, and nothing seemed wrong.
Anyone know what it could be? Also, how does one access the system check on this car? On my car I just have to put in the key and scroll to system check. I did that on my moms car, and when I hit the scroll button nothing happened. Thanks!

Simple answer: Call the nearest dealer and have it flatbedded.

Could be all kinds of things. No where near enough info to diagnose here. Don't stop at Go, call your dealer and don't mess with it!

Does the non-turbo car have the HPFP? To the dealer with it for sure.
