3 days without a drive.

Different problem over here.

The floods here have cut off my township from the rest of the city.
I had to abandon my Z4 on high ground on Tuesday, and wade through a swollen creek to get home to the family e before the closed all access to my suburb.
I hope to be able to get back across the bridge when the waters drop on the weekend, and see how the car survived on its own...

At least you guys can go out and sit in your cars while you wait - Mine is 5km away on the other side of a flooded river....

Would your insurance cover if the horrible happens? If not, maybe it's time to look into that. GL to your Z!

I have the best insurance I could buy, so no worries - the car is above the flood levels, but with a valuable asset sitting on the roadside for three - four days, you have to worry about vandals and theives, even if it is unfounded.

I hope to make a trip over later today to see how it has faired.

At the end of the day - it is just a car, and the insurance will cover anyting.

My thoughts go out more to the poor buggers who have lost loved ones and all their possessions that cannot be easily replaced, and the hardships they will have to go through to rebuild their lives and homes.

There are literally tens of thousands who have homes underwater, full of mud, and will have no power for weeks.
Food supplies and distribution are impacted, power is going to be out for weeks to some suburbs, major infrastructure will need a lot of repairs (substations, transformers, buildings, roads, although most bridges in the capital are OK, many in the countryside are wiped out including dmage to our rail lines.) First estimates are 16-20 billion dollars in damage, and this will only go higher when you count in personal damage claims to goods and possessions.

Think of something as bad as Katrina with the impacts on the individuals, but thankfully not as many people and homes are affected, but over an area that is 100 times as large. 75% of the state is in a state of emergency, and 75% of Qld is still bigger than Texas + Arizona + California combined. (715 sq miles in total)

The Government is taking donations from everyone, this is the biggest natural disaster in Australia's history. The fires last year were horriffic, and this disaster is just so much bigger in any way you measure it.

see http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html for details.

That does rather put a bit of snow into a different perspective. Here's hoping things work out.

I foolishly thought I was the only one to head out to the garage and drool. Still doing it after four months. Always the same comment -- "Damn, that's a good looking car!!"

At the moment its just a car. Can't enjoy it in sub freezing weather. Plus I've been driving the X5 on snow and ice. However, the first day I can drop the top, the smile will be back. I enjoy top down drives going home from work more than I would have thought. it makes you forget the days problems.

Well said. It's almost sad that most people think we drive a Z4 because we have a tiny penis. Almost. Because if they knew what they're missing, we'd have streets filled with Z4s. And when you're constantly surrounded by beauty you become blind to it.

Here's to Juliane and Nadya

Sun came out today and temps are above freezing so I took the Z for a quick spin around time. First time out in about 8 weeks. Car felt nice. Can't wait for spring.

It's so hard not to grin like a fool in a Zed

According to "Top Gear", all us BMW drivers are "cocks", may I add "with a sh*t eating grin".

Didn't Clarkson say that all the cocks now went from BMW over to Audi?
