Ditching the RFT's this week, BMW Mobility Kit?

HI all,

Ditching the runflats (Finally) and considering purchasing the BMW Mobility Kit. I called my local dealer and was told they no longer make it and the contents are now sold separately (?!?!?) It is available on ebay and amazon. Question is, have any of you used it yet, is it worth the money and would you consider it any different than other flat tire kits sold out there for less than half the price.

I bought the Conti kit. Same thing, less $. I think it's on Tire Rack. It actually fits like it was custom made between the pass-through doors.

When I bought the E92, which had run-flat summers and non-run-flat winters, the dealer actually provided me with the Conti kit. It went with that car when I sold it. The E89 doesn't get driven in the winter, but when the current RFTs get replaced, I'll be putting on PSSs and buying the Conti kit from Tire Rack.

Never used it, though, so I can't offer any insight there. Sorry!

I will say that, regardless of brand, I believe the kits all have an expiry date on them. Something to be mindful of.

Proud owner of 4 new NON-RFT's as of today. Have to say the ride and overall handling and comfort are significantly better.

Does the sealant ruin the tire and TPMS once you use it or are you still able to get the tire repaired normally?

Regarding the TPMS, the Continental kit says: This product's sealant may interfere with the tire pressure monitoring sensors on vehicles with direct TPMS, possibly leading to error prompts and incorrect pressure readings. Use of this product on direct TPMS vehicles could also result in damage to the tire pressure sensor inside the wheel.

On the other hand SLIME makes a unit that looks and sounds suspiciously like the Continental one but cost less than $40 on Amazon. Also the product is supposedly TPMS friendly. (My guess is most sealants can cause TPMS problems but at least the Slime one sounds better)

My runflats are coming off today so this thread was quite timely. Think I'm going to go for the Slime 7005.

airmarc,
What tire did you put on?
If you got Michelins they should have a 3 year road assistance deal included. They'll come out and change a flat or tow you in at no charge. Probably doesn't negate the plan to carry a tire inflator but at least gives a bit more peace of mind.

Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position Tires. Got them on Tire Rack with the Road Hazzard Coverage

Extremely happy with them.

Those are great tires. Had 'em once and really liked them.
