Reinforced roof hydraulics... March or July 2012?

Looking at some old thread:

http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=635471

Was stated that from march 2012 the roof mechanism was beefed up. But later somebody says it's actually July.

Well, my car was made in June and I cannot put the roof down while driving. I wonder if the hardware is there and I just have to code it, or if I have the older roof mechanism.

Any ideas how I can check on this? I'd like to get a smarttop or code the roof, depending on the structure I will use more/less and/or code lower speeds.

I used to drive an SLK a few years back and the smarttop was super useful.

Thanks!

Not sure if this is useful info, but my Z4 was finished on 2012-04-12 according to the VIN decoder, and I'm able to open/close the roof while driving. No mods done as far as I know.

It's limited by the speed you're driving. Mine was set to 4mph/6kph when I got it.
Here are the limits that can be set:

• 6 kph / 4 mph
• 30 kph / 19 mph
• 50 kph / 31 mph

I changed mine to 30 kph using the app "Carly for BMW". I'm a little afraid of the wind pressure on the mechanism if I set it to 50 kph, so that's as high as I'll go. There are a lot of other settings you can change, too.

Checked it again today. Mine seems to cap at 4mph or so.
I'd love to set it up to something usable, I know this can be done with programming or smarttop. What I'm curious is, is there a way I can find out if my car has the reinforced roof mechanism or not...
