Space grey 35i

EDIT: Update on last page

Hi folks,

in November I bought my 35i at Kohl Automobile (AC Schnitzer) - almost fully equipped (except M-Package and TV-function).

I love this car and the design, but some small changes must occur...

First step were AC Schnitzer lowering springs:

Because of no insurance coverage in the winter weather w/o winter-tires in Germany, I used the OEM 19" rims with 235/35 R19 and 265/30 R19 winter tires.
In addition I installed 24 mm H&R spacers:

Next steps:

- front-bumper improvement (already occured today but no pictures available yet) - perhaps M-front bumper installation -> I already bought it but I love my beautifications at the actual front so I am not sure anymore
- 19" BMW wheels for the summer-season-setup (design almost decided) - done
- JB4 - done
- BMW Performance kidneys - done
- LCI headlamps or white LED angel eyes
- LCI side markers - done

Cheers,
Phil

Update with summer wheels post 12.

Thank you very much for your warm welcome and your comments.

Regardings the angel eyes - I will wait until the LCI-head lamps are available - after that I will decide to change to LCI or only to aftermarket LED lamps.

The front bumper enhancement is very little, but has a big change on the whole design.
I am looking for better weather. At the moment we have rain all the day and very cold...

Merci beaucoup!
Regarding the licence plate: I live in the "BM"-area - and I had a lot luck that the rest of wz 435 was available.
Wow, you live in Nice - very nice City! I've been there last year when I returned from Corse. Lucky guy! An e89 in southern France ist perfect!

I'm guessing that the LCI headlamps will cost 10-20x the price of just getting aftermarket LED bulbs. Sure it'll be better looking and brighter, but is it worth the significantly higher price?

Oh ok, in fact you choose the rest of the plate, nobody thought to make that!

Good choice

Approx. 1.000 Euro per headlamp - so I will take the aftermarked LED bulbs.

Thank you.

I love the Cote d'Azur, the Provence and of course Corse.
I hope to go there next year again -> with the Z4.
Last year we were there with the 125i Convertible, which was already such a great experience!

Excellent choice and color. Here is mine with the stock 293 wheels in 18", all brake calipers painted Red, De Badged, all reflectors and side marker lights blacked out, CF Roundels, and F bumper treatment on the lower grills.

@BMWZ4RIDER: Nice car and a great colour!

After some days of mild weather last week, I already decided to adapt the rear wheel housings and mount the summer wheels:

I already got the approval of the technical inspection authority.

In addition I already mounted the summer wheels to our 125i convertible. Now both cars have the same 19" wheel-design in the summer-setup.

Unfortunately the snow came back this week- I hope the snow will melt quick, because my new M-front-bumper is already painted and waits for the installion now...

@nuebbes
Mounting the summer tires in Cologne Germany this week is quite brave!

If I look out of the window I see just white and towards North it must be much more snow! So take care!

@BMWZ4RIDER
Car looks good! I will do the same setup for my Z435is (comming in July 13) regarding winter tires. I like those rims very much, but it will be a hell to clean them up, I assume.

No risk no fun... I had the car in the garage the past days. But the snow already melted in my area - so no problem from today with summer wheels...

Yes, I do! Both have the perfect size in my opinion - not too small and not to big and of course both have an adequate engine - but the most important point is the roof!
Sometimes 2, sometimes 4 passengers - no rain, no roof...

Nice Matching SET of rides.
Any more up grades?

I tiied to get my wife to go for a 328i, 2 door hard top/convertible coupe same color ad my Z but she always wanted and MB so no luck.

On your F bumper lower grill-I removed (easily) the silver inserts and wrapped them in black gloss CF. I want to now paint the black plastic angled peice as you did. Did you remove this or have the shop paint it on the car? It looks like this is part of the whole bumper.

H and R springs and the drop- did I you have to re align the car after the drop?

These are the AC-Schnitzer (=Eibach pro kit) springs. Additional approx. -20mm (front) and -5 to -10 mm (rear) to the adaptive suspension of -10 mm.
The H&R springs would be lower than the Eibach springs, but the problem with these springs is, that they lower the rear approx. 3 to 5 mm more than the front - I don't like it if the rear is lower than the front.
In addition the AC Schnitzer/Eibach are not as hard as the H&R.

Thank you. That is always a pity with the women and their mind of their owns...

Regarding the black plastic bar: I removed this before painting. You must first remove the inserts which you have wrapped. Afterwards you need a thin plastic tool. The bar is just fixed (clipped) like the outer air intakes. You need approx 1 to 2 minutes per side.
I am looking forward to see the pictures.

Regarding the drop: This was done by AC-Schnitzer.

Thank you. My summer wheels are from BMW Performance. I try to use as many original BMW parts as possible.

In the meantime I have made some new changes - M-front bumper and BMW Performance kidneys:
