Have you driven a car that is so fast it makes you car-sick?

So I just drove an F-Type R with AWD and I really liked the car. Incredibly fast, sounds amazing, and didn't find it too big. But I did feel car-sick after driving it. When I floored it, I got that feeling in my stomach similar to a rollercoaster and later felt queasy.

Anyone else experienced this?
Is it something you can adjust to?

I otherwise really liked the car. Put a real grin on my face.

I know what you mean. Our neighbor has a Tesla Model S P90D. That's the first car to ever give me the same butterflies I get when on a roller coaster. They drove when we went out to dinner one night and my wife said "what's insane mode?" He floored it and it felt like my entire life hit fast forward. Absolutely incredible sensation.

That said, I'm sure you'll adjust to it and it's not like you really drive like that everyday so I wouldn't be dissuaded from buying it.

I don't get that feeling in a car when accelerating for some reason. However, on a roller coaster (lookup Poltergeist at Six Flags Fiesta Texas) that does the same function of straight line acceleration, I do. I recently road that coaster and recently took a ride in my buddy's Factory Five 818 that does 0-60 in the range being discussed here and had no issue.

I think the lack of sound in the Tesla add to the sensation. If you are slammed back in you seat in a loud muscle/sports car it makes sense, you're ready for it, you expect it. The Tesla just doesn't compute, which is kinda cool.

there are actually threads on this in the tesla forums...it seems like some do get used to the sensation eventually and the queasy feeling subsides...but what if it doesnt for me....that would be one costly mistake given the depreciation on jags...

Again, 99% of the time you're in the car you will be driving normal speed, not balls-to-the-wall. It's like looking in your cutlery drawer and thinking "MUST HUNT DEER" every time you see a knife. Sure, it's capable of doing that but it's by no means required.

No issue for me. I actually just did the 2 day M School in SC and had bought some Dramamine just in case after seeing some posts here. Did not have any issues, even during runs with instructors.
I guess you cannot tell until you try it...

This reminds me of conversations with a friend about fast motorcycles. His saying is always 'you know the throttle has options between on and off, right?'

Just use what you're comfortable with, you're in control here, not the other way around. After countless laps at the track in both front seats, I nearly lost my cookies in an Exige with slicks and a buddy driving. Something about high grip, not being the driver and heat made me feel terrible. So maybe don't be a passenger for a while.

sure but what is the point of getting a car with a power level you cant ever access...if it made queasy every time I floored it...i would never floor it

I have yet to get into a car that made me queasy lol but I've ridden modified 1000cc motorcycles that have made me wanna hurl lol.

I'm sure you'll get over it; either that or you'll eventually get accustomed to it and strengthen your stomach.

I've had the luxury of driving more than a few sports/supercars in my relatively young lifetime, but the only instance where I could truly relate to this came when I was riding a Hayabusa motorcycle in northern Ontario.

I may have been going at Mexico-like speeds and when the lines under my bike turned into one, I felt a sensation unlike any that I've ever felt before.

Closest I've come is riding a 1000cc bike. However I've ridden in several 1000hp cars that make you feel like that. Have a friend with the fastest jeep srt8 in the world currently and it's just ridiculous how hard it pulls on the street. It eats his 1000hp gtr alive.

Simple problem with a simple solution....moderate the modulation of the go pedal

Well, for you, you just have to ease into it, not like every time you get in the car you must go WOT haha. Main thing is if you love the car and can afford it, go for it.

My 1 series makes me dizzy sometimes. Nice cold morning second gear roll on sticky tires with not much wheel spin. Over 500 WHP DCT 3300 lbs, it's no joke. Too much pow for everyday use

I suppose it is kinda like getting a 1000 watt stereo and only turning it up to 3...it sounds better than a 300 watt at level 3

Not so much speed as twistys, drove 2 hours on back roads with the P club a few weeks ago, last section was very twisty. Wife got so car sick she make me drive right back (on a straighter road). Missed the great lunch being served. No more hill country drives for her without bringing anti-nausea meds.

That's the difference between turbo power and N/A power. I'll never forget the first time I drove a turbocharged car. I thought I was going into warp speed. That rolling on of power gives the sensation you're going far faster than you actually are.

I have not. I've driven some quick stuff too, high 8's and 160+ traps....

Drove this when it was still sr20 powered, it was still pretty damn quick.
