You realize this is more than an E9x forum, right? Many models supported on here do not have automatic reverse into spaces like douchebags passenger's mirrors. FWIW, I've said it's not a big deal, but just don't try and tell me it's faster, or safer, or easier. Because it's not. This place sometimes

So this off topic forum is not exclusive to e90post? All of bimmerpost.com sees and posts in this forum? If that is the case then yes, my comment is pretty stupid. I made the newb mistake of assuming each different section of this site had it's own "off topic" section and the vast majority of people who would post in here drive e9x's...

But, fwiw, I personally never said anything about it being faster (actualy never said anything other than I do it and it's gangster ), it's not faster unless you have to take more than one shot at it pulling in forward. But I do think it is MUCH easier to back into a space I have driven by and can see what is around it and also know what is behind me in the lane I am traveling than to try and back out of a space blind and hope some asshole doesn't want to zoom down the lane while I'm backng out.

And yeah, I hear ya, this place.... One of the wierdest forums I've ever been on.

Always face forward; so whether that's backing up into a space, or pulling forward into another space, I always face to where I can see the road/driveway.

If the spot is on my left, l like backing in. If it is on the right, front in. I just find it easier that way since I can maneuver really close to the car next to me and can always get in on the first shot and park perfectly in the middle.

For those that are wondering why I need to do this with a 135, I also own other vehicles that are a lot bigger than my one.

Almost always park backwards. As a kid I did it cause I thought it was 'cool', now it's a habit lol.

I even parallel park backwards, never can I parallel park driving forward lol.

I do that too, but it largely depends on your height and driving position. For me, it's when the top of the curb appears to be a few inches below the mirror.

Backing has to be the most Chinese way of parking ever. Here in Taiwan you head over to Costco and you can see signs every where on just about every wall in the basement asking the locals not to back their car into the parking spot. Sure enough every other person back their freakin car in. The signs are written in huge red writings and they never manage to see that freakin sign! Then they come out of Costco with a Kart full of groceries and realize that their trunk is in the back What do they do then They try and squeeze the kart between the two cars so they can get the groceries into their trunk Then they scratch the cars trying to get the kart through When approached they tell you " Bu-Haow EESUH "

I'm thinking you can not read, park or think Most usually have their glasses on when they are driving so one would figure that they could see that sign which says "DO NOT BACK YOU CAR INTO THE PARKING SPACE!!" It is written in both English and Chinese as well.

I think I know why most of the Chinese like to back their cars in Backing in nothing around you is moving while backing out things around you are moving. If you notice that the majority of the Chinese backing up their cars (I would say 8 out of 10) will neither turn around and turn their head around but rather rely on what they can see with their rear view mirrors. Now a days they rely on the sensors that beep so they just look into their rear view mirrors and listen to the beeps If you do this while backing out of a parking space you will most likely get hit by a car where this does not happen if you are pulling out nose first.

Proof is in the images below. All cars are backed in.

When you back IN, you stop in the middle of the (road, parking lot, driveway) with clear vision of the roadway before making your next move.

When you back OUT, you enter the middle of the (road, parking lot, driveway) with obstructed vision of the roadway.

When you cause an accident backing OUT, you will be at fault for entering an intersection in an unsafe manner, REGARDLESS of how fast the other driver was going.

Go on, ask me how I know.

Son backed out of driveway and got CLEANED. Spun his car 1/2 way aorund, debris was in the neighbor's yard 75' away. Yet the driver "was only doing 25" When the first CHP officer arrived on scene, first thing out of his mouth was "Looks like somebody was going a little too fast" My son ended up being written at fault.
