Wow that retractable hardtop weighs a ton. As I knew it would since it adds like 400 lbs to the weight of the 335i convert.
In this car, must add 200-250 lbs.

So what I just don't get is why didn't BMW release a fixed hardtop version that weighs about 3250-3300 lbs?

That would make it one fast little car. As it stands, it's heavier than the 135i and only a bit lighter than the 335i.

What I worry about is they won't bring a fixed hardtop simply because the sales of the current Z4 hardtop has been bleak.

BMW, if you are reading this, please release the new Z4 i35 with a fixed hardtop.

Oh and I also think it's a mistake not to offer the standard 6 speed AUTO in this (and probably future BMW's) car.
The 6AT is a great transmission and it's torque converter is a great thing for quick getaways. The DCT should be an additional option for those that want that transmission. There are many who won't want to spend the $3K+ more for the DCT over the manual, but also don't want the manual. They'd rather spend $1,200 for the normal and excellent 6AT transmission.

Garage List
Does anyone, know the offset's of the OEM Z4 19"s? I'm curious if a set of the E92 19"s would fit?

its a pity bmw dont issue spec on body panel alighnments apparently the tolerances on the bonnet to bumper gaps are +/- 1.2mm!!!!! the gap is only 3.7mm to start with!!!! plz make potential purchasers aware of this as bmw will not rectify this afterwards
