Engine Malfunction ... again .. 4th time
'Engine Malfunction' indicator turned on again .... for the 4th time.
I stopped and started the car and the indicator turned off. Very surprising. I transmitted service data to the service center so they can diagnose the issue. |

I went through this with my 335i. It was in service more than I was driving it, after the fourth time I went to the GM of the dealer and said this was not acceptable. He went to BMWNA and got approval for dealer buy back. They bought back the car at 100% of what I paid and sold me a new 335i at the same price as the old one. This was a less than 6mos old car though. The second 335i was better but I went through 3 HPFPs.
So far I have only had a single limp mode on the Z4 and it did not throw a permanent code and cleared with a restart. I suggest you move past your SA, they will continue to try to fix the car forever. See if you can get resolution through the GM |

I got this today... also... mine is the Vanos camshaft Solenoid.
Very typical on 35i and is. Car will be at the dealer for 3 days... in the meantime.. another 328 2012 loaner... Labor cost will be around 1k but thankfully this happened under warranty... |

My Z4 is 2years old and just reached 35K miles. Yesterday, I looked up their website and tried to reach the GM by phone and email.
http://www.opbmw.com/MeetOurDepartments This morning, Service Manager called me and left a voice msg. I called back and he started screaming at me without even listening to me. He says GM is a sales person, can't fix cars and he will only refer me back to him. In May, when I got new tires, they inflated the front tires to 67psi and rear tires to 42psi. They checked the tires and apologised at that time. This morning he says he doesn't believe that and I overinflated the tires myslef and accusing them ! Appointment is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I will have to wait and see what they find. |

I think your problem is going to be the age of the car as they won't give you 100% of what you paid if they do a buyback they will do some type of pro ration so you may be stuck with trying to get it fixed. So try to keep SM happy as well. |

That's not an acceptable way for them to treat you. Time to get BMW NA involved.
My understanding from friends is the pro rating starts from when you first reported the problem. If the first occurrence was very early in your ownership you would get back a good part of what you paid. |

Pro-tip from someone that works at a dealer. If the center is giving you the run around, just call up BMW NA and whine. A LOT. Everyday and keep whining and putting the heat on them until they stop dragging their feet. And I noticed you live in Florida, they're obligated under State law to buy the car back under the Lemon law.
Just in case you didn't know or read the little pamphlet that SHOULD have come with your vehicle when you took delivery of it... http://www.dmvflorida.org/florida-lemon-laws.shtml The dealership is not required under any law to buy the vehicle back. The manufacturer is. So contact BMW NA. |

Z4 is back .. Service found fault code 2F15 related to 'Charge Air Temperature/Pressure sensor' and was replaced. This is the same sensor that was replaced in 09/2012. Reviewed my Z4 history ..
1. Engine Malfunction for the 1st time in 09/2012. Fault code 2F15. 2. Engine Malfunction for the 2nd time in 01/2013. Unknown reason. 3. Engine Malfunction for the 3rd time in 03/2013. Unknown reason. 4. Engine Malfunction for the 4th time in 08/2013. Same as 1st, 2F15. Between #1 and #4, I had to take my car for issues like 'Chassis Stabilization Failure', 'AC Shutdown' for a record number of 8 times ! We didn't count how many times they worked on the car before #1. SM is doing his best to fix the issues. But these many issues ? |

Outrageous at best. Does the dealer consider this NORMAL and customary for such an expensive car? As already advised, BMW NA needs to know what's going on with this car.

BMW NA has been very responsive with me and others. I would def give them a call and if she's still working there, talk to Charlene Banks. The only thing you've got going against you is age and mileage of your car. Bottom line question- is this car performing up to BMW standards?

Both my E89 Z4 35i cars did this, 09 and 11.
Simply contact a lemon law lawyer and get it handled. It's complete BS when a car spends more time on service than in your garage. IIRC, my 11 had over 40 days in service in under 18 months!

'Engine Malfunction' indicator is back on again
Weekend before Christmas, 'Chassis Stabilization malfunction' message came and went away in few seconds. Using BMWhat App, I found these fault codes: - Fault: :Gyroscope / Speed sensor right front line fault / Rotation rate sensor - Code: BMW 5EAC - Fault: :Lateral acceleration sensor - Code: BMW 5E96 - Fault: :Gyroscope / Rotation rate sensor - Code: BMW 5E9C - Fault: :Ring break diagnosis error - Code: BMW E150 - Fault: :Exceeding the speed - Code: BMW A6A4 I am sure the first three are related to Malfunction. I will call the service center tomorrow and setup appointment. |
