Nav screen rattles/buzzes like a cheap add-on...
Anyone else have/had this? If so and you got rid of it, how? It's driving me CRAZY!
Putzo...

Are you sure its the nav screen?
Dumb question but hear me out. When I got my zed i heard a rattle/buzz but it was coming from the passenger side add-on cup holder. Took me a bit to realize it since it didn't always happen because I'd put my cellphone in it sometimes which kept the little hinge lip from vibrating. |

Best way to confirm it's the navi screen: use light pressure from your finger ... Just placing my finger on top of the cover makes the buzzing/rattle go away.
I read somewhere that it may be just a loose cable. However, I have never confirmed that. My solution has been to drive open or with music/radio on... |

And for me, it was the rear view mirror rattling. Totally thought it was the Idrive screen. Turns out it was actually that little clear plastic bubble thing below the rear view mirror, I think its the sensor for the remote, that was rattling.

Mine occasionally rattles too. I lightly press the nav screen from the left with my finger and it stops, sometimes for a few hours, sometimes for a few days. But it's very annoying when it starts rattling.

I have had rattles, buzzes ETC in other cars and fortunately not the Z and was trying to pin pointing what I thought was the cause only to find out if was something else.
My NAV on the Z, open and closed is solid. I only wish the other roof creaks were as silent. My MOST stupid diagnosis. Rattle and buzz in my Ford Escape. Go figure. Turned out to be a Coin rolling back and forth in the ash tray. I nearly killed myself looking for the cause when to only find out it was my doing.

Sorry, I should have specified in the original post that I AM sure it's the nav screen. I determined this with the light finger pressure test, only the rattle/buzz returns immediately after removing my finger. SUPER frustrating.
I'm no stranger to mysterious noises - my 335i had a maddening "dash rattle" that I found out many months later was because of a children's pencil topper rolling around inside the heat vent under the passenger seat. The Z, however, was brand new and hasn't even clocked 10,000 km yet.

up!
I am encountering the same buzz... The only way is to push on a border of the navy with my finger... Someone said it's because of a wire, creating a vibration with the navy... I'm not sure and I'm wondering how to make it disappear... |
